My husband and are live in Baltimore in a 100 year old Victorian home. We appreciate the history of such spaces and did not want to stay in something cold and modern and hotel feeling during this family gathering. We are both retired teachers, Gerry from Johns Hopkins University and I was a geography teacher at Friends School in Baltimore. My two sisters are from Asheville, NC and Redding, Calif. My son and his wife are also teachers in Baltimore. We are familiar with Chelsea (where my daughter lives) and the West Village, and have often wandered around Soho, Tribeca, and this general area, so I decided on staying here because both of my sisters are from smaller cities and I thought the neighborhood feeling in Soho would be more interesting and comfortable for them. I only see them once a year, so this weekend is a treat for the three of us. The shower is in Chelsea, so it is also convenient for that.
