We were treated like VIP's even before we arrived. Robert and Susan are the kindest, most thoughtful and helpful hosts we have encountered so far in our journey.
We loved having Raul and Sheryl Lee staying with us for a few days. They will always be welcome back, maybe on the ground floor though next time if stairs are an issue. We wish them all the best in their travels.
We were beyond delighted by our stay at Riad Idrissy and highly recommend you treat yourself to this wonderful experience. Robert's attention to detail was not lost on us and we so appreciated how welcome Robert, Sue and the entire staff made us feel. From lovely kaftans and slippers in the room, waking up to fresh coffee delivered to our doorstep each morning, fabulous meals in the Ruined Garden, warm smiles greeting us whenever we encountered any of the staff, to the relaxing times spent in the various comfortable seating areas, we are grateful to everyone for making our stay so memorable.
We loved having Karen and Curtis here, they were friendly, fun, interested and filled the place with their warm laughter. Welcome back anytime.
Riad Idrissy is a magical wonderland. Peaceful. Exotic. Comfortable. Exciting. Everything is "just so", and in the best possible way. And the food. Oh, the food. I could spend a month here and never need to walk out the door. But then again, Fez is at your door so best to go get worn out and come back here to recharge. My greatest compliments go to the staff - Robert has selected the most intuitive and personable staff I've encountered in Morocco. Stay here! You won't regret.
We could not possibly find an adjective positive enough to describe our experience at Riad Idrissy. But, if forced to settle, our three nights there were nothing short of spectacular! The room and riad were beautiful, the staff were kind and attentive, and the food was the some of the best we had across our Moroccan travels. Further, Sue and Robert are a wealth of information - helping us set up a day trip from Fes and our four-day Saharan adventure. Thank you!
The four of us girl friends loved our stay at Robert's Riad... Such an amazing experience for us all. When we arrived in late, we were honestly speechless at how beautiful it was!
The ladies in the kitchen made us the most amazing breakfast every day, which we enjoyed on our private rooftop.
We all fell in love with Fes and it certainly was greatly attributed to Robert & his staff's hospitality.
This is certainly the place to stay in Fes! Would recommend everyone!
We have stayed in countless AirBnBs. Robert is probably the best host we have ever had. He is in a class by himself.
He pampered us like we were in a high-class luxury hotel. And, the Riad really is of that caliber. Our room took our breath away. It was magnificent. The ceilings were probably 30 feet high and everything was old Arabic architecture. The restaurant was fabulous. We ate every meal there. Robert arranged a tour guide for us to navigate the Medina. It was a great day.
But, Robert is also exceptional at picking the right staff. Each was incredibly warm. Many smiles.
We had a delightful time. We had not planned to return to Morocco in the future, but we are now planning another trip back simply to stay here.
Beautifully restored riad with lots of cozy nooks to enjoy a peaceful moment. Lovely rooms with comfortable beds. Nice and quiet location, all the nicer with the lovely garden area that houses the restaurant. Robert is a very friendly and attentive host. Thank you for organising our transport to our next destination - it made life much easier.
My son (16) , daughter (13) and I stayed with Robert during our time in Fes and absolutely loved our stay.
From a North American perspective it is a dramatic cultural shift coming to Morocco; outside in the Medina and the souks can be hectic and a bit overwhelming (in a good way) and it was always nice to come back to the comforts (and quiet!) of the Riad while maintaining cultural immersion.
Our rooms were great as was the location in the heart of the medina and Robert was great to deal with both before and after our arrival offering suggestions about what we might like to see, do, and eat without any pressure.
We arranged to have Robert pick us up from the airport and for a walking tour on our arrival which made life a lot easier. It can be a little tricky to navigate the medina and souks the first time around and this allowed us to get our bearing.
The best surprise was Najia who brought us breakfast each morning which was freshly squeezed orange juice, a bowl of fresh fruit (we were not expecting the kiwi), as well as a selection of hot moroccan breads & crepes that were served with honey, a lemon coulis, jam and butter. I think these were my families favourite meals of the trip.
We all highly recommend the Riad Idrissy and the Ruined Garden and want to thank Robert and Najia (and the others) for their hospitality during our time in Fes.
Two colleagues and myself stayed for three nights in the upper bedroom of Robert's lovely medieval house in Fez. It was spectacular. The house is beautiful - with intricate tiling and authentic decorations. The upper bedroom was extremely comfortable (slept 3 easily) and had access to a rooftop terrace. We spent each evening listening to the call for prayer and watching the sunset over the white buildings of Fez.
Robert and his staff were friendly, efficient, and very helpful. They helped us arrange for a driver to Volubilis on our third day - and arranged for a cab to pick us up from the train station when we arrived. The cook (I forget her name) is really nice and talented. She made us a breakfast every morning with fresh fruit, coffee, and delicious fried bread. So good!
The Ruined Garden restaurant is incredible - we ended up eating there every night. It has lots of fresh vegetables and delicious tagine dishes. Plus, it is a nice option to have in case you don't want to walk around at night.
Overall, we had an amazing, restful time. We felt incredibly well taken care of & can't wait to return.
We absolutely loved everything about our stay at this riad with our host Robert! He was very welcoming, attentive and informative -- the essence of great hospitality. Attention to detail was incredible, and the riad staff is amazingly sweet and helpful. The riad and its restaurant are a delight to come back to after a wild day in the medina. Breakfasts are a highlight, with strong coffee, fruits, muesli, and more (a lot more) :) We can't recommend the top floor room highly enough, with its beautiful roof deck. We did not want to leave.
