I grew up on a farm in the Midwest of the U.S. but came to New York to study art and enjoy the cultural opportunities here. I volunteer as a backstage worker for a charitable theatre group, I am a fine art painter and photographer, and I work out with weights, elliptical trainer and do yoga. I am a vegetarian since 1967. That's right, 1967. But I don't care what you (email hidden)at's your business. I love nonfiction books and when I travel I want to see as much as I can of natural beauty, cultural institutions, architecture, and history. I adore birds, cats, and animals generally. I love to travel, especially on trains. I've traveled most extensively in the United Kingdom, and I have spent most of my time there in Scotland, mostly the Highlands and Outer Hebrides, and I speak some Scottish Gaelic. I love wilderness as well as cities. I do need to ask logistical questions so I can avoid foot pain as much as possible by being close to transportation and services. Though I like serendipity, my feet will only stand so much, so I avoid too much "flying by the seat of my pants" . I need to know how I'm going to get somewhere and back again. You can expect me to go out early and come back ready for a shower and bed. I'm definitely not a couch-potato, and chucked the television years ago. Life is too short and too exciting to sit still and vegetate.
