Took a trip with several friends to visit Portland, ME for our first time. The house has a lot of space! Easy to find as an out of towner and close enough to either drive to Portland or walk to bars/restaurants nearby.
Clean, close to the beach and spacious, this summer house was perfect. We were 8 and had plenty of space. Plus, the beach toys were much appreciated.
We overall enjoyed our stay at Ed's place and had a fun vacation in old orchard beach. The house, although a bit outdated was very clean, big, cozy and charming with its quirky wallpaper and beach themes. There were towels, bed linens, kitchen utensils and even board games left for us. The house is within walking distance from the beach, just a few blocks downhill and we went almost everyday which was great!
The only thing to note is there isn't AC, which is ok if its not too hot out, but we were there when there was a stretch of 90 degree weather. There are plenty of large fans though which helped cool the place off.
Thanks Ed for being a great host! We had a great time.
Ed's house provided my friends and I everything we needed for a great beach weekend! He is also very prompt when messaged. Beds were comfortable, the house was clean when we got there, plenty of fridge space, and almost everything that we needed was in the kitchen. There are plenty of beach chairs available and plenty of beach toys in the basement, which provided for a lot of beach fun, which, by the way, is only a s place. Highly recommend!
Ed was really a great host in accommodating us for our Memorial Day weekend. His place is cozy and close to the beach. Only thing is there is no internet which is a good thing if you really want to get away. It wasn't a huge problem but something worth mentioning. But I had a great time in Maine as usual, Thanks Ed!
This was our first airbnb experience and we were a little apprehensive, but the place turned out to be exactly like we expected. The house is kind of old, but has enough room to hold 8 people comfortably over a weekend. Ed also has a supply of beach chairs and a whole closet full of laundered linens that we could use. The presence of the washer-dryer in the basement also made life very easy. The beach is a short walk and we could also park both of our cars in the driveway.
On the down side, the bathroom fittings had to be fiddled with a little, and kitchen and bathroom could have some more cleaning, but nothing that affected our overall experience.
Everything was set up for our arrival, and this was a wonderful place to spend time as an extended family.
The small room with the full size bed had just enough room for our son, his wife, and the crib. The room with the full and the twin worked for our daughter family, with the twins on the floor... The room with the queen worked beautifully for my wife and me, having the private bath, and when our other son and daughter showed up, the bed in the closet gave our daughter some privacy. The mattress on the floor was fine for our son. To boot, when our friend's son showed up. the couch/bed downstairs gave him a comfortable place to sleep! The second bath downstairs provided enough room when the whole crowd was there.
The kitchen was well set up. My ONLY encouragement is that the fry pan be replaced... or that people bring their own :-). The availability of laundy in the basement also was nice for a family.
It is within walking distance of the beach.
Thanks, Ed, for your hospitality.
