Without a doubt helped to make our first visit to this colourful city the joy it was. Austin was really interesting to talk to and makes a great coffee in the morning. At the end of a long day sightseeing wakling in to the warm greeting of his dog, Shanu, made it feel like a home away from home. The room was sparse but clean and towels were provided so we had everything we needed. We really liked the location (Noe Valley) too. Easy access to other districts and the usual tourist hotspots but with a local feel and friendly bars. Highly recommended!
Austin was an excellent host - when I arrived there was red wine and crackers waiting for me, it was just as if I was visiting a friend or relative. The room was comfortable and there was ample area in the common spaces to do work or relax. Austin even helped take my bags to another location at the end of my stay. Thanks Austin!
Austin is really a cool man, and a lot of fun. We had a lot of mutual interests, so it was a great visit. Will stay there again! The house is really nice, and in quiet neighborhood.
Warm hospitality, comfortable stay. Austin was great in making sure we felt at home. And indeed we did. Would love to return.
I wish we could give Austin 6 stars! My husband and I stayed a few nights with him last week while celebrating our anniversary. Austin greeted us on arrival with a glass of wine and great friendliness. He is an excellent host, offering us toast or granola and yogurt for breakfast and lots of help with directions, maps, restaurants, etc. The bed we slept in was extremely comfortable, and the rest of the apartment was tidy and stylish. Austin seems to truly enjoy having visitors from all over into his home and giving them a chance to enjoy this incredibly city. The neighborhood is also quaint, with many great shops and restaurants to explore. Just a short metro ride from downtown. We felt so fortunate to have Austin as our host in our first experience of San Francisco.
Austin was a great host for my 6-night stay. Upon arrival he not only showed me the logistical aspects of his house, but took the time to brief me on the area, transportation, etc.
The house was well-kept and clean. I stayed in Room #2 which was somewhat spartan from a furniture perspective, but had a comfortable bed which suited my needs well.
The location was great, on a quiet street, and within easy walking distance of 24th St and Church St, both of which have a selection of shops and restaurants. Whole Foods, open until 10 pm was nearby on 24th as well. The Muni (J line) was an easy 2-block walk away which was an easy way to get downtown.
Overall, Austin genuinely opened his house to me during the stay and made me feel at home. I would stay at this location again if my travels bring me to SFO again and recommend it as an option for your travels.
My wife and I spent two days staying with Austin. Wonderful room and bathroom. He was very helpful and a pleasure to talk to. Other guests were there at the same time, one father/daughter from Belgium and a fellow from the East Coast. All very nice to speak with. We would stay here again!
I stayed at Austin's home for 3 nights with two friends visiting from overseas. We loved the neighborhood (quiet but very close to the Muni line and to Whole Foods and restaurants). It was the perfect location to enjoy the city and one of its neighborhoods. We rented the downstairs master bedroom with private bath and we were very comfortable. Everything was very clean and Austin was a wonderful host. My only suggestion is that in the description he mentions that there is a dog in the house since people from some countries are not used to this. Thank you so much for hosting us!
Austin is a very personable guy and hospitable. But, I would not stay in the room I rented from him again as it is very basic and missing a few amenities. It really is an airbed on the floor and not one of the better ones. I needed to put a doubled fleece blanket between me and the airbed and wear a fleece jacket at night as it was too cold. Airbeds tend to draw the heat right out of your body and that is why the better ones supply insulating pads. There is no covering on the window which might not be a problem except that it is right next to the patio so - no privacy! Anyone sitting at the table was literally about 4' from my bed and could see into my room very clearly! There is not an adequate reading lamp and no trash basket. While Austin has done a fine job with renovations - it's a lovely house - there is very little sound absorption, i.e. wood floors with only a few throw rugs (none in my room), no window coverings, little upholstered furniture - so, at least in the room in which I stayed, you could hear every sound in the house, including conversations. I did not have an opportunity to view the other room or the apartment in the lower level. I assume they are much better-equipped.
Very nice house, in a very nice neighborhood. The master bedroom is great: the bed has a very comfortable mattress where you can enjoy a great sleep, the room is big and with a very nice private bathroom. The entire house is extremely clean. Austin is an extremely nice person and he is always ready to help you so you can have the best time in San Francisco. I will stay at Austin's place again in the future.
Austin was a very nice and outgoing person I enjoyed to host and I will be happy to welcome again.
