The position of the flat could not be better: The main areas of interest for visitors to York are within easy walking distance. Yet Portland St feels like a quiet, secluded residential area. The flat is a good size for a couple. We were three, a couple and a young teenager, which meant that one of us had to sleep on the sofa (as it says in the airbnb presentation). The sofa proved to be comfortable.
We appreciated the inate charm of the building, the tastefulness of the home decoration and the fact that everything worked.
York is a charming city with lots to see and do and plenty of good restaurants, tea rooms pubs etc. I can warmly recommend this apartment and a visit to York.
Claire's house is located in a quiet area a short drive or nice walk from York city centre. We had a super comfy bed and quite a big room. Claire was a very easy going host and even gave us a lift to town on our first day there. We had a pleasant stay and we would thoroughly recommend Claire's place to anybody.
My boyfriend and I decided to visit York a few weeks back & heard about air bnb through friends. We stayed with Claire sun-wed and had a really pleasant stay. The loft room was beautiful, and the weather was amazing. The bed was really comfortable and everything was there what we needed. We took a walk to the park at the end of the road and had a little picnic one evening. We spent our days in York being typical tourists & are looking to go again.
This was a great place to stay. The apartment was exactly as pictured and described. Clean, airy and uncluttered. Everything I needed was there. The location, just a few minutes walk from the bustling heart of old York, but far enough down a side street to be very quiet, was perfect for exploring York on foot. I visited several of the restaurants, pubs and coffee shop that Clair recommended and found them all to be great. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice quiet, family-oriented neighbourhood. Claire was lovely; a relaxed host who was happy to chat or leave you to your own business.
We had a fab stay in Claire's lovely apartment. Amazing location - so close to city centre and loads of amenities right on the doorstep. The apartment is perfect for a weekend stay (or longer!) - clean, quiet and comfortable. We'd definitely book again! Thanks, Claire :)
We arrived at the accommodation in the early evening after an exhausting day trekking the sights of York. Claire welcomed us to the house, which is situated in a very quiet and peaceful location about 15 minutes by #26 bus. She showed us where everything was for refreshments and breakfast then showed us to the loft room. It was surprisingly spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The night was quite warm so it was good being able to open the roof lights for ventilation. A good night's sleep was had and after toast and tea for breakfast we headed out for another day of discovery.
Claire was extremely friendly and offered us a welcome cup of tea on arrival. The room was a haven of peace in the loft, well away from the delightful chaos of her children's BMX bikes and drum kit (not played!). The neighbourhood suited us perfectly as we just needed a base on the outskirts of the city to dash in to see our children at the university, and dash out again.
Greeted by Claire, the lovely host, with a much needed cuppa after a long 4 hour drive, which was the perfect start to my short stay. House is quirky and homely... Personally loved the artwork and decor. The room was small, comfortable and exactly what was needed for a quiet retreat from a hectic hen do. Thanks Claire!
Claire, it would be nice to have you and your friend as guests sometime again, H
