We live in the Peak National Park in England. My husband used to work for a charity and I am a chartered surveyor. Old buildings, village life, walking and gardening are what we like.

Made to feel very welcome on arrival. The Spook was even nicer than advertised. A beautiful cottage in a picturesque village. All the facilities you need. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Hope to see the dog (and you) again sometime! Regards Anthea
thank you for a lovely warm cosy little house to stay in, very well equipped, and perfectly placed in such a lovely little village.
And thank you for being such lovely guests.
We wanted a cosy little stay in the peak district and got just that. The Spook was quirky and quaint. The cottage was well equipped for all our needs.
Greeting us with a bottle of wine and a smile, Anthea was a wonderful host, and made sure we were comfortable.
The village of Winster had just had a carnival and were preparing their gardens for a weekend show. We were very disappointed to have missed both events.
All in all a lovely place to stay. Would recommend.
Great to have you both! Regards. Anthea
Anthea was a very welcoming hostess, telling us about local events taking place and local sites worth visiting. She was kind enough to ensure we had a bottle of wine, choccy biccies and some basic food and toiletry supplies available upon arrival. The Spook is a very cosy cottage with loads of character and located in the heart of a beautiful old Derbyshire village. The cottage is very clean and tidy with everything needed for a comfortable stay. If guests have their own transport, they will find the Spook ideally located for sightseeing, e.g. both Chats worth and the pretty town of Bake well are just minutes away by car. We would happily recommend the Spook as a great place to stay.
Thanks for your lovely review. We will have a look at the pillow situation. Regards Anthea
Staying in The Spook was absolutely delightful. The cottage is very cozy and had everything one needs for a great stay. Winster is a nice, little village with fantastic walks around the village. Anthea and Clive were welcoming and helpful hosts. We hope to come back.
And we would love to see you! Thanks. Anthea
We absolutely loved our stay at the Spook. It is a charming cottage with many great walks on your doorstep. The location was perfect for us as the cottage is in a small and quiet village - a refreshing change to central London! Anthea was very helpful on arrival - letting us know about nearby walks and places of interest. I would (and have already) recommended this cottage to friends and family.
And thank you for buying a map of the Dark Peak and leaving it for future guests! Regards Anthea
We absolutely loved our stay in the Spook. It is a charming little cottage in a beautiful village with winding narrow streets. The photos don't do it justice. We also had 2 fantastic meals in the pub just down the road. I couldn't recommend it more.
Thanks very much! Hope you will come again. Regards Anthea
We stayed at The Spook for a weekend in August. It's an excellent base for exploring that part of the Peaks. The house is clean, compact and comfortable (plus lots of books, which I love!) Our host, Anthea, was helpful and knowledgeable about what was going on locally, which also added to our enjoyment. Thanks to Anthea & AirBNB for a lovely weekend.
Nice place in a nice village. Small but very functional for 1-2 people. Shame the better of the two pubs is open only thurs to sun but the village store is well stocked. Close to Bakewell which is lovely so that was handy.
Anthea was very easy going and making arrangements for her stay was very straightforward. We didn't meet but the house was left in perfect condition - would definitely recommend.
Anthea is a very nice, warm and open personality. She is a great person to chat with and has nice stories. She is always welcome to stay with us again, so I recommend her as a guest!
I was a guest in Anthea's cottage, "The Spook" for a week in June 2013.
The cottage is exceptional value for money - everything you need, and with plenty of room for a single person or a couple. It was immaculately clean, there was plenty of space, plenty of books to read, a very comfortable bed, and the garden, with its views of the village and surrounding countryside was also lovely.
Anthea had thoughtfully left out local maps and guides, as well as biscuits, tea, coffee, milk and a bottle of wine for me. She was also incredibly helpful, even picking me up from the local train station, waiting when my train was delayed, plus offering me several lifts during my week's stay. She was also kind enough to invite me to join her and her friends in the pub one evening.
I would thoroughly recommend "The Spook" to anyone wanting a relaxing week in Derbyshire, and I'm sure Anthea would be a super guest for any other Airbnb hosts.
