Hey, I’m Michael!

Costa Rica · Member since June 2012

We operate legally in Costa Rica, which means that we collect 13% sales tax. As Airbnb does not have a way for sales tax to be calculated automatically, I must send you a special offer. This special offer will include the rent, $45 for the Property Protection Plan (this provides up to $1000 in coverage for items broken or lost, if disclosed prior to departure), plus 13% sales tax.

Travel is my passion! It is now my career, and it's how I spend much of my leisure time.

Michael is a marketing, public relations and project management professional who has served three U.S. presidents as a political appointee, twice on the White House professional staff and under Secretary Colin Powell at the State Department. Michael was an executive with Fleishman-Hillard, one of the world's largest public relations firms. Michael's clients have included Starbucks, Nike, Blue Circle North America, Savannah College of Art & Design, and other globally known and respected brands. He has worked with journalists around the globe, including reporters for the New York Times, Washington Post, New Yorker, Agence France-Presse, BBC, NBC Nightly News, CBS Evening News, Fox News, and CNN.

Michael was graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a BA in politics and government. He attended graduate school at Georgetown University, and is an alumnus of the Prince of Wales's Business and the Environment Programme developed by Cambridge University, as well as the Energy & Minerals Field Institue of the Colorado School of Mines.

He was appointed to the Savannah Film Commission by the Savannah City Council. Michael also serves on the board of directors of Art Rise Savannah; they produce the monthly first-Friday Art March, publish "Savannah Art Informer," and operate the Non-Fiction Gallery.
