"9 things I can't live without:" sleep, chocolate, coffee, films, people, art, and thinking, reading, and writing. I like to keep it simple and peaceful.
I teach English, Women's Studies, Honors, and Cinema Studies at Temple University (non-tenure-track), but rent in NJ.
My style of "traveling"? I'm friendly and yet very conscientious of other people's needs and spaces. I like to converse a little, and I like my "alone time." I'm not a morning person--unless it's during the semester...Mostly I'm a quiet, night person who likes to read and listen to (website hidden) in a fairly quiet space. I don't smoke, and am cat, dog, and kid friendly. I do need good wireless internet and safe street parking.
Life motto: "We must define ourselves by the best that is in us, not the worst that has been done to us." Edward Lewis via Mayor Cory Booker
I lived in Toronto, Canada, for a year, during a Fulbright Scholarship to Canada (dissertation research). I've also traveled to: Mexico, Ireland, Italy (summer), and almost every state in the United States. I grew up in the Washington, DC area.
I love art, and my second favorite quote is from a movie called I've Heard the Mermaids Singing (Canada, 1987): "Isn't life the strangest thing you've ever seen?"
