I'm open minded and like to experience new things and meet new people. I like airbnb because it feels like a truer way to travel: staying in a place that a person from that area lives in. I like the feeling of being in a home, rather than in a more impersonal space, such as a hotel or hostel. When I'm on a trip, I often go walking to explore the space nearby, be it a city park, a mountain hike or a beach-side walk. I tend to gravitate towards water: a river, canal, lake or the sea are all places that you will find me exploring when I'm away on holiday. I also like cycling and practice yoga, so if there's an opportunity to do either of those things I'm very happy.

I've been travelling in Guatemala and Mexico, have visited a fair few parts of Italy and Spain and I moved from England to Barcelona a few years ago, where I teach English. I'm also fluent in Spanish and I'm learning Catalan, which is great fun.

I like all kinds of food, and have recently started eating vegan food, which has revived my creativity in the kitchen, so I'm learning how to make new and delicious dishes. Most of them involve an Asian twist, because I love the spices from that part of the world, and being English,I have a strong influence from Indian food. I'm not a super-strict vegan, but I try to eat as few animal products as possible. So far, so good.

I enjoy reading and watching films, but rarely find the time these days, so when I get the opportunity, it's a real luxury. I would probably go for a drama over an action film, but I enjoy most movies so long as they aren't horror. My favorite film is a french film called Untouchable because it made me laugh more than any other film in my life and I can watch it over and over again.

I like to listen to live music, so when I get the chance to go to a small venue and listen to a local or touring band, I really enjoy it. My music taste is really open, so if the group is talented, I'll usually have a great time whatever the genre. I also like the theatre, particularly stylised performances, and love the Antic Teatre in Barcelona for its intimate and high quality shows.

A quote from a friend last night, that I loved, that may (or may not) have come from the Dali Lama: "If you have no solution, don't spend time worrying about it. If you have a solution, there's no need to worry".

And my own thought on the subject is that solutions often come when you're not worrying about them. I'm not implying that we should ignore things, just not let them take over, and make sure we don't forget to appreciate all the great things we do have.
