Friendly, caring, loving and love to have lots of fun
I don't recommend this house.
I stayed 2 night at the house. The location is good, but there is nothing in the house. No food, No shampoo, No toilet paper, No towel. After I told her, I could get toilet paper and only one towel even I was supposed to stay 4 days. If you don't tell her, you can't get anything.
I stayed at basement room. After her explanation, she locked the door to go up. So if you want to meet her, you have to hammer the door. Sometimes, I felt I am like animal in the zoo.
There were her 3 kids. two of them are less than 6 years old. They always ran around and threw something away to floor so there was lots of noise.
The most important thing was heater. I stayed on dec 26,27th. It was cold. I felt cold so I told her heater doesn't work well and asked check. but she said she already turned on the heater. and she never letted me touch thermometer, so I didn't know how cold my room was. same with her husband. I slept with wearing my parka finally.
Also, there was bad smell from a shower curtain and there were some hairs in bath tub.
I never recommend this house to you guys.
30$ per night is definitely not worth for this place! I would give 15$ max for this place. There are several rooms which were rented out, and it was a decent stay. The room which I was in nearby kitchen, lot of noise and smell when someone's cooking food. I never met Fowzia, her husband Sadiq opened the door . It has very basic ameneties like a Bed,Blanket, pillow and a rest room to use and kitchen to cook....however we have to get all out things including towels, soaps, toothpaste, kitchen utensils, water, etc.
Its okay for a day or so, but there are other great places in vancouver for less price and great hospitality
this worked well for me
i was in Van for a weekend convention
it was clean, private and quiet with a separate access
the bus stop to downtown IS right outside the frontdoor
Fowzia and her family made me feel really at home. They are friendly, kind and helpful. The house is very clean and nice, at walking distance to every shop you could possibly need and it has a bus stop just in front of the door, so reaching downtown is easy and fast too.
Strongly recommended, thanks Fowzia!
I Stayed At Fawzia's Place For About 8 Days. The Place Was Good And She Is Also Very Flexible And Helpful. She Also Gave Me Good Information About The Place On My First Day There. Although Her Kids Keep Her Busy, One Can Reach Her When Required. I Had A Comfortable Stay In Her House.
This is a family house with several rooms rented out. The room I stayed in was on the main floor. There was no lock on the bedroom door, but you are given key for the front house door. This was not really a problem as her kids were taught not go inside the room, but you also share the house with other customers renting rooms, for piece of mind you can always use a pad lock to lock your valuables. The room had a double-deck bed which was formerly used by Fowzia's sons, was quite comfortable, with clean, odourless bed sheets, pillow and blanket. The washroom was also clean. There were occasional hair and someone's piece of clothing on the floor, mostly the kids' but still ok, the shower had a shower host with good running water adjustable from cold to hot. But to maintain the cleanliness, Fowzia asked to sit on the toilet seat if you have the call of nature. This meant that even if you are man, you have sit down when jinggling to avoid any spill. You come and go late after midnight or any time but there are kids and family members and other guest so just enter or leave as quite as you can if it's generally the sleeping hours. The house is situated beside Knight St. which is a major road also used by big cargo trucks, so there can be a lot of traffic noise, especially during rush hours. Sometomes you will hear kids yelling and crying during daytime, which is normal. I don't sleep too long during the daytime as I go out early to tour the city, and was out most of the time, the noise part was not big deal. I was not able to use the other facilities of the house because I just rent the room, and use the washroom, then go out most of the day. Fowzia was friendly, helpful, and was knowledgeable about the neighbourhood and the city. She was also accomodating. There was this guest who supposed to get a room in the basement, but guest there extended there stay for one more day, so this guest was offered Fowzia's room for 2 days for her stay. There was Wifi and Fowzia offered me to use it which I accepted gladly. There were a few minor rules guest have to follow. No shoes in the house, sit on toilet bowl when using it, and don't bring pork in the house. These were not a problem for me as these are fair rules and I respect their beliefs in this matter as this is their family house.
I arrived at Fowzia's home late in the evening (no gps, got lost, go figure lol) but she was still up waiting for me with open arms. She is a great host and very accommodating. I stayed in a room located in her basement and it was everything I needed. A bed, a desk, and a couch, plus a closet is there for anybody with loads of clothes to hang up. There was 3 other guest staying at Fowzia's home in the basement also but everybody had their own private space in their room. We all shared a bathroom and kitchen area but it was always kept clean so no complaints there. Wish I had more time to chat with Fowzia, she is very sweet. Will definitely stay at her home again the next time I come to Vancouver. The money I saved by booking with her was then used on all the wonderful restaurants in the surrounding area.
Fowzia was an amazing host. It was my first time in Canada and she was very helpful and really helped me settle in and learn my way around. She is friendly and it was nice to have someone to chat with. For the first few days I stayed downstairs, the room was very clean and the kitchen, although shared with other guests, was usually free. I never had a problem waiting for the bathroom, but it really depends on who you share it with as some of the other guests were messy. I moved upstairs and once again the room was clean and I got to know the family which was very nice. I would definitely go again! Thank you Fowzia
Staying at Fowzia's was really nice, the room was great and clean, it was also nice to have a kitchen at our disposal. There is a bus stop right in front of the door so it´s very easy to go to downtown vancouver. Fowzia is a great host !
