My family had a great vacation at Andrew's cabin/home. My wife and our two boys (ages 5 and 8) spent a week in the cabin from 2/15-2/22 and each day we went to the surrounding mountains for snowboarding and tubing.
Andrew was a great host. He met us upon our arrival and helped us settle in. He came back midweek to clean out the wood stove ashes and to make sure we were doing ok with the extreme cold and had everything we needed.
Despite the freezing temperatures during our week there, we were able to stay warm and cozy in the cabin utilizing the regular heat and wood stove in the living room. The cabin is equipped with wifi, cable, and a nice tv which were all great for the kids.
We spent the majority of our days at Blue Mountain although we did make two trips to Camelback and JackFrost. The cabin is located within 30-45 minutes from almost all of the major ski resorts. JackFrost is about a 30-35 minute drive and Camelback is about 40-45 minutes. Blue Mountain is about 30 minutes away. The first day we drove to Blue Mountain our GPS took us on back roads the whole way but we soon discovered another route taking 209 South to 248 East and getting off at the Palmerton exit. This was the easiset and safest drive depending on road conditions in my opinion.
Here is what we learned regarding the surrounding area:
The Jim Thorpe market is the closest grocery store located 10 mins south just off of 903. We did a lot of cooking during our stay and found the GIANT grocery store in Lehighton was a little bigger and had a better selection. We stocked up at GIANT and used Jim Thorpe for smaller items we ran out of mid week. There is also a Walmart near the GIANT foodstore.
One of our boys came down with an ear infection mid week and we were happy to find St Luke's Walk-In Medical Center right on 903 in Jim Thorpe. There is also a pharmacy next to it where we were able to get antibiotics. There is a liquor store across the street from the pharmacy and a beer distributor next to the liquor store.
For restaurants we enjoyed Tratorria 903 (Italian) which is two minutes south from the cabin on 903. We also enjoyed Dom N Ali's (steak, fish, burgers, etc) two minutes north from the cabin on 903.
The listing of this accurately described the location. The house has a nice lake view at its rear. Trees at either side of the lot offer some privacy from the neighbors. This is just what my family was looking for as we sought a place within 30 min driving distance from a ski resort. Downtown Jim Thorpe is a convenient 10-15 minute drive away that can offer some diversion for the non-skiing sight seers.
Great host, the house was exactly as described!
I had an awesome time. andrew greeted us when we got there and gave us a tour of the house. very clean. kitchen was great as we cook alot. loved being on the lake, made fun use of rowboat that was there. had campfire in firepit one night, thankful wood was provided by our host. neighborhood was quiet, perfect for my early morning strolls. dark at night and great for star gazing. would definitely go again
Nice location. The house was comfortable for six people looking to get out of the city for the weekend, fairly priced, and well represented by the description. As someone with an apartment who isn't able to grill very often, the high end charcoal grill was also a nice bonus. You should advertise that in your listing!
Andrew is a nice guy. I'd definitely consider returning. Thanks for the weekend.
Andrew was very helpful in making sure that we had all the information about the house to help us enjoy our stay. The house is perfectly situated for enjoying sunsets over the lake, and we took full advantage of that. The house also boasts a very nice grill in addition to many other out door amenities. The weather was perfect which allowed us to enjoy all of the outdoor spots at this lake house. It was the perfect weekend.
We were 3 friends meeting up for a Poconos ski weekend (along with a 3 year old) and were so thrilled to find Andrew's lakefront cabin. He was an easy going and helpful host! We arrived during snow and Andrew was busy clearing the last of snow from driveways, walkways, etc with his snow blower. He gave us a tour of the cabin and instructions on how to us the wood burning stove...which was great at keeping us toasty the whole snowy weekend!
The view to the lake is just fabulous from the living/family room. The house is furnished comfortably, and easily accommodated the 4 of us plus two dogs. We hope to go back and enjoy the property during the fall season!
We spend a snowy weekend at Andrew's cabin with two other couples (6 people total). The cabin is comfortable for six. He has a well equipped kitchen that made it possible for us to cook all our meals. The lake is as close as it appears in the pictures! Andrew was very easy to communicate with. It was very quiet on his street, we barely saw anyone else. The cabin is only 90 minutes from Philly, which made for a convenient weekend get-away. I would recommend this spot to friends!
We had an amazing stay at Andrew's lake front cabin. The cabin was the perfect size and had everything we needed. The views were beautiful and we had a great view of the sunset! Andrew was a great host and had the house ready for our arrival, as well as helpful instructions to use the wood burning stove. We would definitely recommend!
We enjoyed the open kitchen/living room space and the amazing view of the lake. Andrew made sure we had everything we needed and even built a fire in the fireplace for us!
