Hi Trip and Anita,
I write this only to clarify the situation for future hosts that may be concerned about accommodating (website hidden): trash - I apologize for not taking the trash from the kitchen to the bin outside; we missed that detail spelled out towards the end of the 4-page PDF instructions document. We will read more carefully next time. However, I don't believe you need to exaggerate - I highly doubt bagged trash in a closed cabinet within a locked house would risk attracting bears, even in the Tahoe (website hidden): dishes - I believe we washed the dishes and pans that didn't fit in the dishwasher, but I don't recall where we left them so I apologize if we left them in the sink. We did fill the dishwasher with dishes (and ran it so it would be clean for the next tenants) and did not have room for the additional pans, so your insinuation that we could have put the pans in the dishwasher is unreasonable.
All in all, we did our best to leave the house as it was when we arrived - we made sure to wipe down all surfaces, launder the towels we used, and tidied up items in all rooms. Thank you again for allowing us to stay, and we apologize for missing those additional details; we hope they did not cause you and your cleaning crew too much trouble. I trust that the $150 cleaning fee was sufficient compensation to handle these inconveniences.
Best of luck with the place,
