We stayed one night with the very friendly Monia in Pescara. The location was great for us as we had a one night layover. We arrived late but Monia was waiting for us, we had been given very clear instructions and found very easily. The b&b is perfectly located near the airport (not a busy one).
The room was as described and comfortable.
Thank you Monia!
We stayed with Monia just one night only as we arrived in Pescara late and needed somewhere close to the airport before moving on the following day. Monia's place is literally walking distance from the airport and also on bus routes into town. She is a very friendly, hospitable women who provided us with clear details of how to get to her place and a list of her recommended sites in Abruzze.
We had a twin room and the beds were quite narrow but fine for one night only. We had a large bathroom to ourselves as there were no other guests that night.
Monia had actually gone off to work by the time we woke up but showed us where the breakfast was for the morning. Breakfast consisted of an array of sweet cake type stuff and a mircowave to heat up water for coffee and tea. Again for one night it was absolutely fine and fitted the bill perfectly.
Response from Monia:
I am sorry you did not open the fridge full of juices, yogurts, cold tea, coffee and milk... :((((
Monia è molto gentile, cordiale ed ospitale. La casa è a 10 minuti a piedi dall'aeroporto, quindi non c'è neanche bisogno di prendere il bus!
In più, le stanze sono davvero molto carine!
Monia is a lovely lady. The house was nice but not the cleanest I've come across. (The decorating is a little tacky) Other than that, the bathroom was nice and breakfast was left on the table. Also, Monia was very kind and left a key in an envelope so that I could get in since she wasn't around that particular afternoon.
Response from Monia:
I really appreciate your honesty... if/when you will have the time, please tell me what can be improved in cleaning... I was not home that day and didn't have the time to do everything before you came, I am sorry.
La vicinanza all'aereoporto e all'autostrada ( la casa è stranamente silenziosa!) è uno dei motivi che mi ha fatto scegliere di andare proprio da Monia.
Although we didn't get to spend much time with her, Monia was very helpful in assisting us with directions to her place when we got lost (make sure you take the bus in airport direction!). The room itself was huge and had all the necessities, lots of sweet breakfast items available, place was nice and clean etc. Note for other travelers - not too much apart from pizzerias locally so if you need dinner on arrival make sure you don't leave it till after 8 like we did. Would be happy to recommend the place if you need a place in Pescara though - Thanks again Monia!
Monia offers a lovely apartment near the airport, and she is a welcoming and lovely landlady.
The location is very well serviced by the numbers 8 and 38 buses - you buy tickets at the bus stop before you get on, as of 31.04.13 these were €1.10 and a ticket lasts for 90 minutes. The buses go between the centre of town and the airport.
Three doors down from the Flat is a pretty decent Pizza parlour, and about 1km away, next to the airport is a big Auchan Hypermarket if you need to do a shop.
My favourite things here were the beach at Pineta and the coast generally - and the mountains are worth a drive if you have a car with good brakes!! The Boardwalk at Pescara is also pretty darned good for a bit of a people watch and some food and drinks; certainly busy on a Sunday evening.
Pescara has some unusual recent choices in art and architecture, with a sculpture fountain full of random shapes dumped irregularly and a new foot bridge that someone certainly made a few euros on, but the ambience is great, the fast food is great and the Italians hanging out are as effusive and expressive as ever - personally, I think it's great for the evening, and go to Pineta for the day as it just has something, but is much quieter in the evenings.
