Lifelong Chicagoan. Grad student at UC. Lots of diverse interests.
Really nice apartment, plenty of space. Very calm and well located - quick access to the lake, to downtown, to shops. Kitchen had all the required cook ware. Sam was very nice. She helped when we had questions, and was very discreet when we were enjoying an evening by ourselves.
Minor issue with the room - door knob was broken so we had to keep the room closed by putting a bag against it.
We had a great time!
Jocelyn and Sam are both very nice! The bedroom and entire apartment is large and spacious. The location is really ideal as there are multiple bus stops within half a block. It is particularly quick and easy to take the bus to the UChicago campus.
This was a lovely place to stay.Jocelyn was very easy to work with and was warm and welcoming when we arrived, being sure to show us around. Then she left and we had the place to ourselves for four nights.
Comfortable bed. Good shower. Chicago guidebooks available. LOTS of room. Terrific location within walking distance of U of C, MSI, etc. Bus goes right by on way downtown. Sun-filled rooms. Nice front porch overlooking S. Hyde Park.
I can't say enough good things about our stay with Jocelyn and Sam. They worked with our schedule, gave us the basic rundown of the place, and provided us with a truly private space to rest in. The room was cozy and charmingly decorated - much nicer than staying in a sterile looking hotel room. I'm a light sleeper and there was never any noise to disturb my slumber. Hyde Park is a lovely neighborhood, not far from downtown, but just outside of the hustle of bustle of the city. As a New Yorker I found the bus right outside the building to be really efficient and easy to navigate (unlike our horrible nyc buses!) All in all I would say this was the PERFECT choice for our stay. (Highly recommended if you are visiting University of Chicago as it is walking distance to campus) I would definitely stay with Jocelyn and Sam again!
Two sisters live here and I shared the apartment with one of them while the other was away. The place was spacious, quiet, and very comfortable. The University of Chicago is about a 20 minute walk away or a quick bus ride, and there is a Metra station nearby for downtown destinations. I would recommend this place to anyone and I'd definitely stay there again.
We stayed at Jocelyn's apartment while visiting Chicago on vacation--including my wife, 10-year-old son and myself. The apartment was spacious and bright, and served our needs very well. The wooden floors were clean and beautiful. There were some few small issues--the apartment is typical of Hyde Park in being fairly old and having a few quirks--but nothing that prevented our enjoying the stay. We especially appreciated being able to host two friends of our son's for a sleepover. The covered balcony was another plus. Jocelyn and her sister, Samantha, were both very kind and helpful--mostly away while we visited but always available by phone when we had questions.
Jocelyn and Samantha's apartment was the perfect place to stay for a first time in Chicago. It was literally right next to a bus stop that took you straight downtown so the location couldn't have been better. We had a hard time getting to the place from where we were but Samantha was kind enough to come out and give us a ride!! It was much appreciated. All in all, a beautiful apartment with all the privacy and amenities one could ask for. Truly had a great stay.
Wonderful! The space was comfortable, charming and welcoming -- as were our hosts. They made us feel very taken care of, while leaving us our privacy and space. (Plus their taste is excellent -- the space is beautiful.) If we come back to Hyde Park, we'll definitely stay here again.
As a Chicago native who hasn't been home in over 3 years, I couldn't have asked for any better place to stay. Everything that every reviewer has said about Jocelyn and her flat is absolutely accurate. The space was more than enough; it was clean and very accommodating. Although I only saw Jocelyn at check in and briefly the next day, she was the perfect host. Jocelyn has set the bar high. I will most certainly use BNB again and am hopeful that Jocelyn's place is available next year when I go back.

The location of the Bright and Airy Hyde Park Walk-up was perfect for our needs in visiting Chicago. The rooms were clean and quiet. The location was convenient to public transportation and various shops in Hyde Park.
We would definitely recommend this AirB&B offering to our friends and relatives. We would stay with Jocelyn again. She is a gracious hostess.
