I have been and am involved in Communications businesses. I have my desk in my kids flat (which this is) whilst they are circling the globe.
Danny was a great host. Very positive experience. The appartment is well furbished and well place in the city. Big appartment and very good communication with Danny. Thanks a lot for everything, i recommend !
My family and I had a great London experience and staying at Danny's flat was a significant factor in making it so. The immediate response to emails before and during our trip was impressive. We did have a "kitchen issue" but that too was addressed immediately and to our satisfaction. Fun too to have breakfast with Danny and we do appreciate his kindness. We would definitely recommend Danny's flat for a London stay.
Family of 4 including 2 teenagers (13,14):
The Host: Danny was a superb host who always responded quickly and reliably, giving us good instructions how to get to his place and ensuring that everything was in order. He even offered to take us for breakfast! He left us loaded Oyster transportation cards to get started, as well as maps and guidebooks and had fresh fruit and water for us too. Regarding check in and check out he was very flexible and gracious.
The Location: the flat is 2 minutes walking from Marble Arch which is very central and there are many restaurants around the neighborhood and towards Marylebone as well as Oxford Street with tons of shops around the corner. The building has a doorman so one always feels safe. Being on the 4th floor the apt is bright and sunny and though the bedrooms face the more quiet street the other side faces Edgeware Road which is very noisy til late at night and sirens are heard consistently.
The Apt: is spacious and the bedrooms are large. The living/dining room is large as well with a table that can seat 12. But the furniture is old and musty, the carpets in the bedrooms are stained and the bathrooms fixtures are old. The kitchen is new but the pots and pans are old and there is no coffee maker. Having said all this it must be added that we are a Swiss family that travels extensively and are used to fine things so our observations need to be viewed with that in mind.
Incredibly hospitable and the apartment was impeccable. Prewar buildings get warm during summer but hey, it's London so heat waves are rare.
If you enjoy waking up to jackhammers, this is the place for you. There is a massive construction project just outside the front windows. We arrived in mid-July exhausted and sleep deprived. Our welcome was a heat wave, loud drilling and pounding jackhammers. We didn't expect air conditioning but it would have been nice to have fans.
Its obvious that Danny didn't mention the construction because most folks would rent elsewhere. We would have moved out if we hadn't paid in advance.
The project covers the entire front of the building and looks like it won't be finished anytime soon.
Danny mentioned in his ad that he has an office in the apartment but we assumed he'd only use it between rentals. He came into the apartment every day when we were out touring. Since we'd never met him it was disconcerting to think of a stranger in the space we'd assumed would be private. When I called and left a complaining message on his phone his reply was that the weather was not his fault and to keep the office door shut. There were no shower curtains, one tiny waste basket, the washing machine didn't work and the dryer was a towel rack. The only skillet was warped and wouldn't work on the electric stove. Television only works in one bedroom. No coffee maker. I had to go out in the heat looking for a fan to buy. As advertised, the apartment is very large and without the host intrusion, hot weather, lack of amenities and huge construction project, it would most likely have been a pleasant stay. There were three of us in the apartment. Carrie
Marble Arch is truely around the corner and so convenient to the central line and the busses. Danny is a great host, he was there to meet us at his flat as soon as we arrived, and even provided some refreshments as well. In addition, he came back the next day and gave us a cell phone with a charger to use when we were out an about. He also provided very helpful information on things to do, and left us some Oyster cards and a map of the city.
The apartment is very clean and well kept and Danny is very responsive via e-mail prior to arrival. The internet works great and is very useful to have. There are even high definition televisions in each of the bedrooms.
I would recommend staying at Danny's flat on your next visit to London.
Danny Unger is very hospitable host and very interesting man, it was pleasure to communicate with him. Apartment is clean and spacious, but the most important feature of it is unique location. There are quiet and calm streets around, but all interesting places are actually close and easy accessible. Next time we will stay at Danny and recommend his apartment to all our friends.
The reservation was canceled 91 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We were delayed by more than half an hour and had to keep communicating with Danny via Whatsapp and SMS all the way from France till we land in London, but Danny was very responsive and supportive and kept telling us no problem on his end!
He was there in the apartment waiting to welcome us and giving us an introduction of his apartment and lent us his oyster cards like what the other reviewers said. He also took out 3 maps of the London city and gave us an introduction and marked a star on the spot where the apartment is, so we'll always know how to get back. We took just 1 of the map with us out (and returned it to Danny when we left), so as to keep the other 2 new for the other guests after us. :)
Everything was exactly as we saw in the pictures. The bed rooms are covered in freshly cleaned carpets and clean bed sheets. My 3yo daughter loves the clean, white bath tubs. My daughter and wife slept comfortably in the King bed and I slept in the queen bed with an attached bathroom - we kept to just using this bathroom, but you can also use the other bathroom in the living room. The living room and kitchen are covered in parquet flooring so it is comfortable to walk even at night in 10+ degree London.
David had left a lot of fresh fruits for us on the dinning table and told us to help ourselves, which we did! Full kitchen facilities that are clean and tidy. We used the washing machine and can vouch that it works well and fast!
The location of the apartment is in a very convenient place near the Marble Arch. From the front gate of the building, turn left and straight down the road for around 8 min and you arrive at Hyde park and the Marble Arch just to the left beside it. Incidentally, there seemed to be some VIP (I think Danny mentioned a former PM) staying right at the corner of the 1st junction where there is always 2 armed security guards, which made us feel very safe even when returning late at night.
Right at Marble Arch, you can sign up for the hop-on-off bus service. We signed up for the "Original Tour" and paid with credit card right at the stop itself. It lasts 24hr so we can continue to use it the next evening (we signed up at 5pm). So we actually didn't use the Oyster card at all since we used this service on both day to get back to the apartment.
There is a very nice Chinese restaurant (email hidden) ("Red Sun"), and a nice Italian restaurant nearby with free wifi (forgot the name, ask Danny). Supermarket is right across the street - you can see it from the living room!
It's like a home away from home! Highly recommended!
This is a great flat! Everything was as promised in the description. The apartment contained all the important things and Danny was very nice and helpful. Would definitely book again if we come back to London
Just minutes away from the Marble Arch underground station the flat has 2 bed rooms each with separate bathrooms and very cozy living room. The flat is equipped with all necessary households such as dishwasher, washing machine, vacuum and etc.
It is an amazing location. Making my parents stay very joyful when they visited London. The flat is situated at the heart of London close to shopping street, Hyde Park, Buckingham palace and other sights of London.
Living there was very comfy as everything is nearby such as local food stores Tesco, Sainsbury, M&S. We were greeted by the friendly concierge downstairs.
Our stay was marked with comfort and joy.
We stayed at Danny's flat in Queens Gate Terrace for one week and it was absolutely perfect. The flat is spacious
and comfortable, in a beautiful section of London. In the flat, the bed is comfortable, the shower works beautifully
and the kitchen ideal size and well equipped. It felt a good place to return to after a days sightseeing. During our
stay there it definitely felt like home. The flat is literally one block from Kensington Gardens & Hyde Park, lots
of great shops and restaurants nearby, and an easy walk to Knightsbridge or Kensington High Street. Oh yes, the
Museums are really close by! I would definitely recommend Danny's flat for anyone's stay in London! Thanks for
the great stay!
