First, I would like to say that this is such a unique and awesome apartment! I showed my gf pictures before but she had thought they were of the apartment lobby and didn't realize it was the apartment. We were both really impressed with the modern look of everything along with how unique it is.
Our check-in was very smooth. We took a bus from Dubrovnik to Split and depending on how heavy your bags are it takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes to get to the apartment. It is on a quiet street just down from the main shopping area (less than 5 minutes). There are a lot of restaurants, markets, cafes, etc close the apartment. There is also a laundrette right across the street which we used twice; once to have some items pressed (took less than two hours and was cheap) and then to do laundry. The lady will do it for you as well... so you can drop it off in the morning and then pick up later in the day after your finish site-seeing or whatever.
The apartment itself had everything we could possibly need (kitchen utensils, microwave, towels, extra blankets, etc). The apartment always seemed cool too... so we did not have to use the A/C that often; generally only for a few minutes after we arrived from walking around. There was even a huge bowl of candy on the table that we devoured when we arrived. That was a nice touch!
Our check-out was very smooth too. The host arrived at 11am as we arranged and then we left for the airport.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Split. it is close to everything, quiet, and very, very unique! We had a great experience and hope to visit Split again some day and stay here again.
The day before we were going to Split, we got a mail from the host saying that she had a water leak in the appartment. She said she was very sorry, and would try to arrange for another place for us to stay. We had already payed much more than the price listed in airbnb, because we were only staying one night. Even so, she said we had to pay 60 Euros more than we already had payed! And the appartment we ended up with was far poorer standard than the appartment on the beach that we had ordered, payed for and was accepted.
The appartment (which was now in the city) was one of several rooms on the same building and there was an office in the buidling. I explained the situation the them, and told them what we ended up paying, and that was more than twice what they would rent out the same appartment for! So because the host had a water leak, we ended up paying even more than the rather expensive price we had agreed. I don´t know who ended up with this money...
The way I see it, when the contract is made in airbnb, if the host can´t deliver the agreed upon appartment or room, they should have to find another place of the same or better standard and not charge you more for that. That certainly did not happen here. And because Split was full that night because of a festival, we had no other places to go to.
So the appartment (very basic) ended up costing us 310 euros, and was far from the beach were we had ordered and payed for! Certainly poor value for money!
We had a lovely time in staying at the Apartment Volat, the host was very quick to respond to any queries we had and also arranged airport transfers for us. The apartment is well located in Split, close to the Old Town, the Riva and the ferry port. You can hear some traffic noise from the through the front door in the evening but that usually died down by about 22:00 or 23:00 so wasn't a major issue.
The apartment is quite small, but well thought out and has good facilities. We would recommend it, we were even given a little souvenir as a reminder of our stay, which was a nice touch.
Geat apartment really close to the old town!
