Katherine's house has a good location, but is very noise, and very dirty. The bathroom probably never was clean. I would stay 2 months, but it was terrible to stay there, and we moved after 1 month, the time that was necessary to obtain an other house. If you can, should be better if you choose an other house to live.
Super location and fantastic host!
Stayed here for two weeks in December 2012. It was not clear that this was a shared hostel style apartment with 8+ people living in it - a bit of a surprise since it's displayed like some sort of private room/apartment on the profile. 1 kitchen & 1 (very old) bathroom between so many people was pretty crammed. At the end of the day, it was a place to sleep at night but just not genuinely displayed in the photos/description as what it is - a hostel. The kitchen & bathroom were quite dirty (I am not sure if they were ever cleaned in the 2 weeks we were there). If your standards are sub-optimal then this place will do but just know that it is a shared living space amongst a large number of people who may not have your same cleanliness/living standards ;-)
I really enjoy my stay in Catherine's place, different restaurant were very near and was accessible to everything. Her husband was nice and patience, i really appreciate his kindness!
The location of the house is great and the room was good, too.
However, if you book this place keep in mind that you are booking a room in some sort of boarding house. You will share the house with other people (more than 8 when I was there) and the house is extremely noisy (especially at night - I was woken up by noise from the other people in the house almost every night) and it is also quite dirty (especially the kitchen). Katherine's parents are lovely and nice but neither they, nor Katherine actually live in this house.
I booked this place under the impression that I would stay with one person in a clean and quiet house. Actually nobody in this house felt any responsibility for cleaning the common rooms so the fridge and cooking area were disgusting.
I give two stars for the great location and the room but I would not really recommend booking it if you are looking for a quiet place with a clean kitchen.
We loved our stay with Katherine! Her and her adorable mom were super-accommodating of our weird travel schedule. The room itself was spacious, clean (she even included a fresh set of towels!) and private. The location was amazing! We were a stone's throw from Chinatown (try the delicious Chinese buns) as well as Downtown Toronto and several bus, trolley and train stops. This room is the best kept secret of Toronto travel!
It was my first trip to Toronto and without Katherine's help and generosity as my Air BnB host, I definitely wouldn't have felt as welcomed as I did. The house is in a very convenient, chilled out area considering how close it is from station and city centre! Baldwin Village Inn which is right outside the house is what I call the hidden gem of Toronto. Great food and pleasant neighbourhood :) The room itself is large but also has a large, comfortable bed. I must say that I was sad to leave the place as I felt right at home. Thanks Katherine!
Katherine is good as pie! She let us stay in the room on a very short notice, and later prolonging it for a night with no problems. The house is full of soul and in a really good neighborhood! Katherine only just took it over at the time when I stayed there, but I am excited to see how it develops!!
Kathy is my younger sister.
