Isabel's apartment is very light, airy and open, which is great for escaping the sensory overload that BCN can sometimes throw up. The location is not overly central, but there are several Metro stations with 10mins walk. Also you don't have to worry about safety as there is a large police station across the road. In general our stay was nice, but we were a little disappointed to find that the apartment was not overly suitable for 4 people, with a shortage in suitable towels, and some sheets that needed to be cleaned. Also the sofa was, as far as I could tell, not suitable for 2 people, so at least one will need to sleep on the seating adjacent. Further, the apartment wasn't necessarily unclean, but it certainly was not overly clean, either. My advice to potential guests is to book only if you are 3 or less. All that said (and I am not generally a negative reviewer, check my others if you like), while we didn't meet Isabel herself, communication was good, and her friend Javi was kind enough to meet us at the building and show us in. All in all this apartment has potential, but needs a bit of polish.
Appartement petit dans l'ensemble, mais très bien situé. Terrace agréable qui permet de prendre le petit dejeuner à l'exterieur. Quartier calme, peu de bruit la nuit.
Well, I chose Isabel's flat based on two major factors. 0ne being a location that was perfect for my interests. Away from the tourist areas and close to the Diagonal where I had to conduct a series of meetings. The other major factor was that she was getting extraordinary reviews which I now find rather excessive both in approach and content.
We are Spanish and obviously not the average visitor. There were a few things for which I preferred staying in a flat rather than a hotel. On one hand I did wanted to cook my own meals, I enjoy cooking and for different reasons it's been months since I had been able to cook for my wife. It was Impossible. Virtually no cooking utensils and those available looked in a rather pre-war stage that wouldnt make its use reasonable for health reasons. So you could order a pizza and very little else. Other thing that made almost compulssory for us to stay I'm a flat is that we were combining from a very long trip in Asia Adm needed deseeperatly a washing machine. We could use it. The difficult part was to hang the clothes wich ended in the back of chairs and virtually any hanging (website hidden). lamps. Someone here mentioned a balcony in one review, well the balcony does exist although it's 80 square centimeters made it very difficult for us both to stand together inside.
And I am leaving the worst to finish with. The flat was dirty, lots of dust and could have benn done with a thorough sweeping wich we actually did. The place has no sofas to relax, unless you call a sofa to a 1,5m by 0,40 cm piece of foam inside a piece of cloth resting on a top. Very uncomfortable indeed. Finally we had to eat outside and the little time we spend in the flat we had to stay in bed, wich incidentally was minute for two people of average size. Most of the plugs wouldn't work and it was quite difficult to make yourself comfortable.
And a piece of advice for future tenanats. Bring your own towels. They provided 2 bath towels for a 5 night stay wich were dirty and smelly same for two hand towels and I didn't have the hart to smell the one provided to stand on.
At 70€ a night that we paid plus airbnb charges we found the place very very expensive indeed. And I highly discourage anyone to book it without thinking very carefully on the issues raised in my review.
It could be ok if you are 18 and care little or nothing about certain things but myself at age 50 and even my wife 20 years younger found the place despicable.
Next week I'm flying again to Barcelona and I'll be staying at a NH hotel on a special offer of 30€ a night.
A final thing that need to be added. Many people here talk about Isabel being a wonderful host. Can't comment on that. Never show and never called to find out how we were doing or if we needed anything. I have to score one star because there's not the possibility of scoring zero.
Amazing apartment!!! I stayed with 2 friends for a long weekend and we found the apartment to be in a great location. Check in and check out were flexible as well. I will plan to stay here again!!!!!
Isabel was an amazing host and the apartment was perfect for our family of 3. Our son slept in the bedroom while we were on the futon in the living room. The apartment isn't huge, but it was a top floor corner unit with an amazing terrace. The location was also nice... just a few stops away from the Sagrada Familia. Would highly recommend Isabel's place.
the apt was comfortable & conveniently located - on a quiet street. isabel was a very helpful & flexible host.
The apartment (especially the large terrace) is great. Location is very central. The host (Isabel) was very helpful and accommodating. She answered all my questions immediately and, even though she was away when I arrived, Isabel arranged everything so I would get into the apartment easily. The only thing that could be improved is how long the hot water lasts - the hot water doesn't last for a long time and so you either have to take a shower very quickly or you would need to wait for a while until the water becomes hot again (as it stops being hots after a few minutes).
But all in all, a great experience and I would recommend the apartment and the host.
We spend 4 days in this cosy appartment and like it very much. The . location is really optimal - not in the middle of the tourist hordes, but not not too far from them (15 min by bus). The neighborehood is safe and clean, the building is modern and in a perfect condition. Sadly we couldn`t met with Isabel, but she was very friendly and responsible, and managed to solve all our questions by phone and with a help of friend of hers. Highly recommend.
Great little apartment, compact but cozy and light. Loved the terrace. Not really within walking distance of Born and Las Ramblas, but a nice area and easy access to train and subway.
Agnes and her fiance were phenomenal guests. Very clean and respectful, they left the apartment as it was when they arrived and their correspondance was very clear and it was very easy to arrange transfer of keys and entry/entrance. They came here on their honeymoon and it was very exciting to be a part of their special trip. I would recommend her/them to any AirBNB host!
Your brother was a great guest, he left the place clean and tidy, I would recommend him to everyone!
Isabel and her husband were very nice people, very communicative, they obeyed and respected all of house rules, amd left the flat very clean!!
i would definetely reccomend them to any host and love to host them again someday!!
I was happy to have Isabel and her friends as guests. She, and they, are welcome back anytime!
