I am an accountant splitting time between Chicago and the great state of Iowa. I keep a very simple, yet clean apartment in Chicago and a little ranch in Iowa.

Staying at Jonathan's home in Cedar Falls was a fantastic choice. I had to travel from Wisconsin in order to attend the UNI Overseas Recruitment Fair. Although I didn't make it back to his place until late, he was very accommodating and left the light in my room on, as well as fresh towels and a key on the bed.
The following morning, Jonathan was a gracious host and offered to make breakfast. While the offer was tempting, I opted for coffee and conversation. He also left the option open for me to welcome myself to any of his food which was so kind.
The home itself was incredibly clean and very relaxing. I went in the winter, so I didn't get a chance to see the extent of the prairie and garden that Jonathan has set up, but it sounds wonderful.
The bedroom was comfortable and allowed for plenty of sunlight, should you want it- with curtains if you don't.
The location was perfect for me. It was close enough to Waterloo, a mere 9 miles, while also being in a college neighborhood. Do check out Sidecar Coffee; I had a great experience there, and they have sandwiches, too.
Overall, it was a really great place to stay. I felt comfortable, safe, and learned a lot from Jonathan, too. Had I not left early due to a snow storm that was headed our direction, I would have liked to spend more time chatting and grabbing dinner/a beer at SingleSpeed Brewing Company, a suggestion of Jonathan's.
Jonathan was an awesome host, very friendly and extremely helpful. His house was lovey and the room was great. If you are looking for a place to stay in Cedar Falls, look no further, this is a great place!
Jonathan is a wonderful host! He is warm and welcoming - provided bikes, delicious food, and a bottle of wine! Stay here!
Jonathan was the perfect host - he sent us detailed instructions and the keys in a timely manner. The apartment itself was GREAT! There was a bottle of wine waiting and the fridge was full! Apartment was exactly as described - super cute and a perfect location - not to mention very clean. My dad stayed there for my wedding weekend and could not have been happier - he walked around the neighborhood and found his new favorite restaurant (Pepe's Inc) - they started to call him by name! Great apartment, great host , great price - couldn't have asked for anything better. Thanks Jonathan!
Cassandra--I appreciate the kind words. I am so happy for you and your family. Thanks for staying with me! Jon
Great stay at Jon's place. The apartment was filled with sun and a very calming environment. The trains were noticeable but only if the windows were open, and if you're used to urban environments you probably wont notice. One note is there is no internet, for better or worse depending on the purpose of your travel. Would stay again.
Jonathan was a great host who made sure we had everything we needed. His apartment is fantastic and felt like we were staying at a hip boutique hotel. Definitely the best view you could imagine!
I love Pilsen and mainly spent the whole weekend wandering around that neighbourhoood and enjoying all the food and sights it has to offer.
Awesome place to stay! Very clean and great atmosphere. Jon is a very good host.
It was nice to be back again. Thank you!
Thanks Galyna. You have been an extraordinary guest.
Me and my friends are really enjoyed staying at Jon's apartment. It was very clean and comfy as described. Location is great. Heart of art community with a plenty of nice bars and restaurants around.
Jon is a great host. We got a complimentary wine and some food which was a nice addition to our pleasant trip. Communication was easy and helpful. Thanks a lot.
I'm sure be back again and will recommend it my friends visiting Chicago.
P.S. Apartment is small but neat with a full size bed. Perfect for one or two people. Nice urban view made it even better.
Pilsen, where the apartment is located, is a very interesting community that we would not have gotten to experience if we were in the hotel corridor of downtown Chicago. It is mainly Mexican and there are a lot of artists in the neighborhood. The apartment is beautiful, clean, and everything you need. The building is very industrial in feel but not cold. The view of the train tracks is endlessly fascinating and the noise is not at all bothersome, even when sleeping with the windows open.
Jonathan is very responsive and did more than we ever expected to make us feel comfortable and get us oriented to the neighborhood and his home. My husband and I stayed in the apartment and the bed, a full-size, was more than large enough and very comfortable.
From the L stop at 18th Street on the Pink Line it is about a 3/4 mile walk to the building. Getting downtown by train takes about 15-20 minutes, the trains are frequent and the neighborhood walk is safe even late at night.
Book this apartment, you won't be sorry.
Jonathan was an awesome host! His description of the space and his directions were exact. When questions did arise, he was easily accessible. The quiet space (even with the trains) was a welcome respite after a long day touring the city; the view from the balcony was a bonus!
