Osvaldo: Engineer & Design Enthusiast;
Curtis: Music & Film Enthusiast;
Both: Los Angeles Enthusiasts.
We have been together in this home since 2006 and have enjoyed using it as a design canvas. Even more, we've enjoyed hosting family and friends from "out of town" and sending them home with fond memories of Casa Formosa and a fresh, favorable perception of Los Angeles.
Becoming Airbnb hosts has been a natural, comfortable extension for us. We've enjoyed being the first Airbnb experience for many of our guests, and we have especially been pleased to host visitors who have never stayed in an American home. It adds a dimension to their vacation and a deeper appreciation for the culture (yes, Los Angeles has a culture, and we will show you where to find it if you ask us). We are perfectly happy if a guest has a full schedule and wants their space or privacy, and just as happy to share advice or ideas about how to explore the neighborhood.
As for Host/Guest compatibility: if you chose Casa Formosa because you appreciate the design aesthetic and prefer the "vibe" over other Airbnb options, then you are likely already the type of guest we will trust in our home. In other words, we prefer hosting people who share our sensibilities.
*We like to feel comfortable, welcome and relaxed...."at home."
*We don't want to assume anything, and we ask if something is unclear.
*We completely respect that we are not in a hotel but in someone's private home
*We strive to leave common areas just as we found them.
*We eat mostly at restaurants or bring back take-out food. When we do utilize the kitchen, we avoid anything requiring more than a microwave oven (unless it's a long visit).
*We like to get to know our hosts and hear their favorite things to do, but we expect to entertain ourselves and spend the majority of our time exploring their city.
Whether a host or a guest, we both love meeting new people, learning about where they live, and discovering what is different or the same in our lives.
