I'm a graduate student in the biology department at the University of Nevada, Reno. My research involves the effects of selective logging on wildlife in the Lake Tahoe Basin, specifically with regards to the small mammal community.
I love to travel and I keep trying to travel lighter and lighter. I went to Africa last year with a small daypack and it worked out great; I'm working on getting it down to an even smaller school backpack or bare-bones lightweight stuff-sack size pack. We'll see if I ever get there.
If there's anything I can't go without while traveling it's trying to sample as many local foods (especially cheap street food) as possible and getting out into whatever mountains/natural areas are available.
I'm an active couchsurfer, but I've heard good things about airbnb especially for traveling with friends and renting an entire apartment. I'll be in Europe this summer and I'm hoping to try it out!
