Jen and Ian were very friendly and welcoming hosts. Their loft was pretty funky, and their pets were really cute and funny.
The neighborhood outside was more industrial than I'd expected, but there are a lot of cool shops, cafes and restaurants if you walk a few blocks (not far), and there is also tons of street art if you're into that.
Jen is a great host. Even though she was not there when I arrived she organised that I had easy access to her place. She was easy to communicate with, extremely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we have not met in person during the time I stayed at the loft (6 nights/5days). It was really nice to meet her roommates Ivy and Laura. Ivy even showed me around the neighborhood and spent the first day with me. We went on the L train to Manhattan and walked around several parts of the city. It was really fun!
The loft is located in an industrial, but very safe area in Bushwick/Brooklyn. It takes about 3-5 minutes to walk to Morgan Ave L train station and you get to Union Square/42nd Street within 15 minutes. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay in NYC and Jen's room is lovely, tidy and comfortable. Again many thanks for your support, girls!
I recommend to stay at Jen's place.
Jen is a perfect host and the loft is a really lovely place - also because of the two lovely cats and the great dog :)
The appartement is - loft like - open, but as well private, and everything in our room as in the whole place is so beautiful arranged. You really feel like home.
We stayed 7 nights and also met her roommates and her boyfriend, who where really helpful and friendly. Jen also showed us a really cool bar and a great restaurant in the neighborhood - which is by the way an interesting, upcoming area, really save (it doesn´t look save at first sight, but it is), with some great bars and restaurants and a great neighborhood.
It takes around 15 Min. by subway to Manhattan and the subway is a 3 Minute walk from the house - so a perfect place to explore the city. And by the way just a 15 Min. Taxi drive from La Guardia airport - so better take a taxi than the bus / subway ;)
Next time in NY, I would stay in this place again, thanks Jen!
Perfect for the urban explorer that wants to be close to the 'scene' but also close to the 'soul'. If you want a genuine experience with a delightful and super savvy Brooklyn and NYC host then jen's place it the go! There is so much amazingness around the loft but its not all on show so be prepared to hunt for it! Animal lovers beware the two kitties will seduce you and you might just want to pop then in your suitcase!
Wow, what can we say about staying with this New York native! Jen made us feel so welcome throughout our stay in her beautiful sunny earthy loft.
The loft & room are exactly as described, airy, open and light, but with just the right amount of privacy. Her personal touches around the loft make it feel homely and the perfect place to return to after a day of exploring New York's delights.
The location was ideal for us. It is an industrial area but is peppered throughout with interesting little shops & cafes. It is a 2 minute walk to the L train subway, which takes you straight into the heart of Manhattan.
We shared the loft with Jen's two cute cats and beautiful dog & it was a pleasure to meet her lovely partner Ian.
We are so grateful that Jen accepted our last minute booking and we feel as if we have left New York with a new friend :)
Jen's place was great and so easy to get in to town. Jen is lovely and her cats are adorable. Thanks for the great stay
Jen's room/apartment is exactly what we were looking for! She is an outstanding host too. We had great communication and she even went out of her way to invite us out on our first night.
Her apartment is beautiful and bright, the bed is amazing, plus she has a couple of super chill cats that are great to hang out with.
Although we loved it, the area will not suit everyone. We found it to be perfect after spending a week in the East Village. Couple of minutes to Morgan Ave subway and some great food.
If you're looking for somewhere to really get a feel for Brooklyn, we would not look any further.
Thank you soo much Jen!!!! I stayed here for a couple of nights with my girlfriend and Jen was an amazing host. She was very accommodating and friendly. It felt like we were staying with old friends. It is a loft apartment and the guest room is very spacious with a very comfortable bed. We had plenty of room to leave all of our stuff and spread out which was good. The kitchen and bathroom were clean which is a big tick for me. The Loft is located approx 5 mins from the L train which will take you straight to Union Square in about 20 mins. I highly recommend staying here if you want to meet some cool people and save some money.
Such beautiful guests who keep happy even when the weather is so wet as it can get in the carribean summer.
Hope to see them again,
maybe for painting a wall
Jen and I have been friends since we were 6. We are currently neighbors in Bushwick, BK. Visiting her place motivates me to keep mine clean!! It is immaculate and she has put love & energy into building out her loft in a super creative way. If you're lucky, you'll stay with Jen on a night she is COOKING! Her specialty is Thai food but she is a genius in the kitchen in general!
Whether you are looking to make some friends or just have a quiet night, this is the place. Jen has a cohort of friends (myself included) who are around the neighborhood and usually hanging out or doing something interesting. But, if you are looking for privacy, she understands that, too, and is always willing to give her guests space.
Also, make sure you like cats & dogs because Jen loves her some animals!! She has a friendly Dog (Storm) and two cats (Mila & MJ) who dwell in the apartment.
All in all, a great place to experience alternative living spaces in NYC!!
