Michael was a great host! Very friendly and helpful. Great location in SF and wonderful rooftop view. Would highly recommend.
Really nice bloke, open and friendly. Room has in a great location, tidy and had a great roof-top view of the city. He even left an iPad to use in the room. Would recommend.
Great location, just blocks away from my conference and right in the heart of SFC. Michael is a wonderful and accommodating host.
I never actually met Michael, but he and Eric were very accommodating about getting the key to me and letting me leave my luggage off early.
There was some miscommunication between Michael and Eric, leading to awkwardness for interactions between Eric and me. I anticipate they can work this out for the future.
The location is very convenient to the cable cars, but remember you can't bring large duffels on the cable cars (carry-on size luggage is fine), and the cable cars cost $6 each time with no transfer for the rest of the Muni system. The Muni pass is $27 for 7 days access to the whole system, which is cable cars and all the busses/streetcars, but not the BART and not CalTRain. If you don't think to get the Muni pass at the airport, you will want one from the visitors' center down at the bottom of Powell. Not sure where to get them if you are arriving after the visitor center closes (some hotel desks may sell them), but you may end up paying for two rides ($12) before you can get the pass unless you can walk up the hills with your luggage, or take a taxi up with luggage and and walk down. I am not sure how convenient it would be to take buses to the apartment instead of the cable cars.
The cable cars hours were perfect for me: they stop at about 12:30 am, and start up again about around 6:15 AM. If you are a light sleeper, you will definitely want ear-plugs for when the cable cars are running, but otherwise the neighborhood is pretty quiet and seems very safe.
There are two flights of stairs to the apartment,. There is nothing funky about the bathroom or kitchen - even if neither is there to host, you can make yourself comfortable.
I don't know whether it was just in comparison to what I'd been sleeping on the previous three nights, but Michael's bed was wonderfully comfortable, the perfect amount of support VS. softness to rest my weary bones. And what else would be the most important feature of a BNB?
The stay was as advertised! I met up with Michael to get the keys to the place. It was incredibly nice with an amazing view of San Francisco... especially the roof. I would definitely stay again.
Michael is an excellent host, and it's a great apartment. Whether you'd like some great opinions on places to the city, or to be left completely alone, he's perfect at both.
This was a good and easy place to stay! Michael was great with communication (but does not actually stay at the apartment when you are there) and his room mate Eric was really nice. There is another room in the apartment where other airbnb'ers stay (Hey Tucker!). The room has the best view (really) and it is beautiful up on the roof. The bed was comfy, warm room, internet, clean towels...everything you need! The location is good, pretty much in Chinatown and about a 25 minute walk to downtown/BART. If you are feeling lazy, you can catch the MUNI into town too, or a cable car.
Michael was a great host, he let me check in late on Friday and was very helpful with finding a place to eat. The room was great with all the information you would need to explore the city and a nice small library. The most impressive part of my stay came after my stay, i forgot my phone charger and Michael mailed my charger via UPS.
Location, locaction, location. This is a great spot to explore a good part of San Francisco. With the street car literally at your doorstop, transportation is easy. I chose to walk everywhere and that was easy too. This was my first airbnb and while I don't need my hand held I was surprised how litttle my hosts were around and that there was a guest couple from Australia where I thought a host would be! Great to be able to use an ipad to check on a snowstorm back home. I would love to stay again!
Michael was wonderful, he was very helpful in giving us suggestions on local restaurants, where to park our car, and on where to buy wine nearby. He even gave us a ride to his favorite wine bar shortly after dropping our bags at this place. His apt is in a great location.
Great guest. Respected house rules and kept in good communication.
