I am a freelance writer and brand strategist living in New York City with my husband, a media studies professor and our two boys, ages 9 & 11. We live on the 20th floor of a 30-story building that we affectionately call the "machine for living." Even with the Soho crowds and gentrification, we love our neighborhood.
We also have a house and a rental cottage in Truro, MA. We live there during the summer and visit during Christmas break and a few times each spring.
We spent 3 weeks last summer traveling through Scandinavia, where we learned to love saunas, dense rye bread and saying "tak!" Of course, we visited Legoland in Denmark, and stayed in the Legoland Hotel, which I highly recommend even though beers cost $13. We hope to return to Copenhagen, Iceland (we LOVED Iceland) and Norway's Fjords one day.
Next summer, besides spending time in our beloved Truro, we want to hit the American Southwest and travel to National Parks in the four corner regions. Road Trip!
Besides traveling, I love to read, cook, and read cookbooks! I have a MA in Food Studies from NYU, which means I can tell you the history of ketchup, the politics surrounding organic tomatoes and then write you a recipe for curried ketchup. I occasionally write about food and talk about food and cultural for the NPR show Word of Mouth, produced out of New Hampshire. The kitchens in all of our properties are properly stocked with good knives and olive oil.
