Lanes's Art Deco Flat in Toorak is indeed beautiful and spacious. Lane welcomed us warmly at the door and showed a real interest in our trip and the pretty meringues she left for us were a nice touch too - all part of the loveliness of Airbnb. Lane has a great eye for design so the flat is really stunning to look at - but comfortable and cosy too. I quickly realised I had made a mistake in my rush to book as it was a one bedroom not a two bedroom but Lane gave us more bedding and saved the day in a very unflappable way. And everything was so lovely - it just worked. But I was sorry to have got it wrong - more especially as this is Lane's home. Her flat however would be perfect for a couple or single person hoping for a truly Melbourne experience without the bustle of the CBD or St Kilda. It was great to come home to such a gorgeous and comfortable space after a really busy day. There is a very well equipped kitchen too - a real cooks kitchen so no microwave. However there are lots of restuarants and cafes round the corner if you feel lazy. The apartment is on the top floor of a charming little building on a quiet tree lined street very close to Toorak village, which in turn, is very handy for the city via the number 8 tram. This is a nice trip straight to the door of key destinations along Swanston Street - taking in South Yarra (Chapel Street) the Domain and the NGV along the way. We loved having brekkie in the village and it was handy for meeting friends for coffee. We liked the no frills Funkies but there are loads to choose from. Lane is right - Simon Johnson's is a must destination. I spent a small fortune. Toorak is was also very handy for the freeway to the airport and for day trips to the Yarra Valley etc. The only things that - would make this very nice apartment perfect - would be acces to wifi, (we used the handy local cafes) and an iron! A bit of a heads up on the Myki travel cards maybe handy for some visitors too. But all survivable and solvable. This is a real home and for a short time it will feel like yours - so treat it with the care it deserves! We had a really great time in Marvellous Melbourne and this super Art Deco apartment was all part of the adventure.
It was lovely hosting Lane and her family . They are welcome any time
It was so great meeting Lane and turns out that I worked for Lanes mothers company 20 years ago. It was a pleasure having lane here she came over to meet me and we had a lovely chat, I organised a few things for a extra relaxing time, which she loved. Lane walked up Coopers Shoot rd and brought fresh produce to eat & walked into Bangalow. I also drove her to Byron to meet the airport bus. Lots of fun Regards Katy:)
Lane and her mum stayed at Malmsberry Jam for a weekend and were very respectful guests..... No issues what so ever.... easy to communicate with...very obliging with check in and out times..... would have them stay any time....
LANE WAS A VERY APPRECIATIVE GUEST AND I WOULD WELCOME HER BACK ANYTIME.
Lane and i have been buddies for nearly 25 years. eek. Couldn't recommend her more highly as both an airbnb host (she has divine taste and a lovely home) or as a guest in your home. (completely clean and thoughtful guest). 10/10
