Anna and Dylan's flat is simply awesome! We're a family of 5 and spent the month of September 2013 there - it really made our experience in Paris what we hoped it would be - to actually live in as opposed to just visit. It is as advertised - bright, super clean, airy, functional, comfortable, homey. Coming from our large North American suburban home we were concerned about size but it was great! Lots of space to store our gear, get comfortable and keep everyone happy and sane! We loved the windows - letting in fresh air and light -- and yes, some noise but it is the heart of Paris and with them closed - everyone slept well ( can get in fresh air from the interior courtyard windows). We were amazed that you could walk in the front door from the bustle of Rue de Rivoli and by the time you close those heavy doors and head upstairs, it was calm and quite.
Living was wonderful - lots of shopping at your doorstep, grocery stores to choose from, markets, bakery ( would send the children there for a baguette). St. Paul Metro - our gateway to the rest of Paris 50 m away - Notre Dame - our children's playground a 5 minute walk. Communication was exceptional - responses from Anna prompt, cleaning was first rate and we took advantage of a mid stay cleaning that was very worth it. Lighting was very good and any bulb issues dealt with. Having a washing and dryer there super convenient as was the dishwasher. We took advantage of the kitchen and supplies that were there and added to them as well and remember fondly the meals we prepared there. Wifi - stable and fast!
As for value, we did a lot ( I mean a lot!! - took us weeks of nightly work) of searching on AirBnB and other sites and feel very much that the rate was fair and appropriate for the location, size and amenities. We would stay here again without question and would recommend it highly. Thanks Anna and Dylan! From our first steps in and the welcoming note and bottle of wine to the time we departed, we knew we had made a great choice.
I agree with the previous reviewer: the location and potential of this apartment are quite nice but the price does not seem appropriate for the general lack of attention to detail that is offered. For example, there was absolutely no electric light in the bedroom our teenagers used (no overhead and none of the various lamps in the apartment were in working order). As it was summer and we spent most of the day out it wasn't a big deal but still...
This is the only AirBnb property I have stayed in in Paris but the intangibles offered at other European locations I have stayed in were much more valuable. Ultimately there was nothing about the apartment that really diminished our visit to Paris but, on the other hand, there was also nothing about the apartment that enhanced our visit.
Pros: Great location near metro, shops, restaurants, walking distance to lots of major spots (Louvre, Jardin du Luxembourgs, Notre Dame). Clean, modern apartment, amazingly quiet with windows closed.
Cons: Super hot in warm weather, and noisy with windows open---right above a bus route. Rather barebones/scrappy in terms of accoutrements of daily life. (Think flipping your egg with a wooden spoon and chopping your fresh veggies from the marché with a cheap steak knife.) Lots of burned-out lightbulbs. Barely enough dishes/silverware for four people. No paper products/dishsoap/laundry detergent provided. Drying rack broken. Definitely furnished with leftovers from an overseas move and administered from afar rather than a place that someone is truly meant to live in.
This isn't to say it was terrible--just a bit overpriced with respect to creature comforts given the cost. For adults who will spend little of their visit in the apartment and prepare few meals, these things will likely not much matter; families may find it a little less pleasant.
Windows open to the floor, so that's another hot weather minus if you are traveling with very small children. Stairs to (Am.) 3rd floor weren't super onerous for our almost 3 y.o. however.
Not a bad place for winter/spring/fall, but I would definitely think twice about booking here or anywhere on 2nd floor or above in July or August without A/C. Parisian solution to the heat is to leave town, and I suspect most apartments reflect that. We actually ended up spending an additional 80 euros on fans at Monoprix to make the place sleep-able during a heatwave. (So future guests should at least have that as a fallback!)
Great location, perfectly clean, ideal for a family stay in Paris, the flat is very pleasant and a pleasure to stay in. Ideally located for all who love the Marais area, we all had a great time!
Apartment was great . Perfect location close to metro patisseries, bars shopping . We walked from louvre back to flat shopping and eating along the way ..we are a family of 6 and the double sofa was great . Cute, typical, Parisian flat .. Quirky , creeky and comfy. Would highly recommend . Anna and Dylan replied immediately and were great hosts ..
Anna & Dylan's Paris apartment was fantastic! We stayed for four nights with another couple and our 15 month old son and we all fit comfortably. The apartment was very clean and well equipped, with excellent WIFI. Anna purchased a port cot to cater for our son which was brilliant. The location of the apartment was perfect - everything was within walking distance. I would highly recommend Anna & Dylan's apartment - if we return to Paris we would certainly stay again! We couldn't have imagined a better experience for our first trip to Paris.
Great apartment, great location. Our family of 5 stayed here and loved it. Walking distance (even for the 7 year old) to cafes, Notre Dame, markets, Place de Voges, etc. Hosts were very available by text/e-mail. Friday night was a little noisy from bars across the street.
This apartment is in the perfect spot in Paris with the metro, patisserie, market and restaurants close by. It served our needs perfectly. Very clean and large enough for four people.
Really appreciate the house manager waiting us at the street and a quick intro. Location is very convenient. Thanks :)
