Karen and her family, including Winston the big boy Lab are welcoming and very accommodating. Transportation either by "L" red line or bus are literally within a couple of blocks. Perfect if you need to be downtown or McCormick Center or Hyde Park. Karen's place feels like HOME!
I was lucky enough to find Karen's space in Chicago. I went to the big city for a Seminar and the location and all the amenities were exactly as described and better. Karen is a fabulous host providing me with any information I may need to get around my way in the city.
The location is perfect, I took the bus to go in and out of the city in 15 minute distance. Her room is very private and it has a private bathroom that made you feel you are in a 5 star hotel. I highly recommend Karen's place and I will defenetly stay there again.
My friend and I stopped through Chicago for a weekend looking for an apartment in Hyde Park. We stayed with Karen for two night. She has a beautiful and warm home with a personality to match. While we were there she made us feel incredibly welcome and safe, yet allowed us the freedom we needed to find a place in such a short time. I would recommend that any one looking to stay in chicago inquire about her place first, and ask if she'll make you pancakes for breakfast, haha.
Karen was an incredible host. She helped me with everything from travel logistics to making sure I had snacks and caffeine in the morning. Her home was beautiful and clean, and the animals were very sweet. Thanks for the wonderful place to stay Karen!
Karen is a very friendly host! We stayed here for 3 nights. We really enjoy stay with her and her family. the room is good size for two people, it is quiet and private. the location is good, 2 blocks to subway. Her cat and dog are really friendly too. I would stay again
Our first trip to Chicago for the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon we stayed at Karen's place for 6 days. She has a nice condo on the top floor of a three story building in the south side of Chicago. Great spacious living room with big bay windows and a nicely remodeled kitchen. The bedroom and bath are cozy and comfortable with a ceiling fan and A/C for the hotter days and nights. Their dog Winston and cat Hope are very friendly, the cat stayed with us a lot when we were there and we took Winston out for a few walks in the neighborhood. Great pets! Karen and her family are great welcoming hosts.
Transportation is close by and a quick 15 minute ride on the Green Line into downtown. Chicago has a great subway system, there is no need for a car, we used the subway the whole trip, even from the airport. While our first impression getting off the Green Line subway at 43rd street caught us a bit off guard as the neighborhood didn't look to good. However, after a 5 minute walk to Karen's place we realized it was just those few blocks by the subway stop. If your willing to walk an extra 5 minutes then getting off at the Indiana subway exit is a bit nicer walk. Overall we had a great trip and enjoyed our stay at Karen's place.
Had an absolute blast in Chicago. Karen and the family were as welcoming and friendly as could be. Literally a 5 minute walk from the green line rail, which will take you into the city in about 20 minutes.
Super comfy beds and the godsend of A/C made this place even better. If you're looking for somewhere to stay this is a great option.
My husband and I spent 3 nights at Karen’s place and it was great! First the apartment in itself: it's quiet with a very nice bedroom and bathroom and an amazing living room with a very convenient kitchen where you'll have a giant breakfast before beginning your visit. Then the location: very convenient, with the train (green line) which is (email hidden) walking distance, and takes you to the heart of the Loop in 15 mn, and directly to Oak Park in 45 mn. If you prefer the Bus, take the 3 just in front of her condo, across the street. It will take you to downtown in 25 minutes. Plus, if you are a jogger or simply want to reach the Lake shore for the view of the skyline, you can get there in 20 minutes by walking via 39th. Last, but not least, Karen and her family were very kind and very welcoming! Thank you again for this great first experience, we’ll definitely do that again!
