Susie & husband, Ray, as newlyweds, moved to Missoula, Montana in 1968
from Groton, Massachusetts and Cape Cod where Ray was a chef at Ciro and
Sals Restaurant in “P-Town.” Susie is a professional artist, teacher, and care-
giver to people with disabilities. Throughout their lives together Susie &
Ray have hosted countless people from around the world in their home for
dinners and lodging.
They are co-directors of Community Church Ministries, providing worship
services and spiritual nurture to people in retirement centers, adults with
developmental disabilities and head-injured adults.
Susie holds degrees in art and education, and continues to teach all ages of
children. She is director of StoryKeepers, a Missoula non-profit organization
which encourages people to express their personal life stories. She also is the
director of the Art Associates of Missoula, promoting the arts in the Missoula
community. Their sons own the Silk Road Restaurant, two blocks from their
home, a tapas-style eatery serving world class, global cuisine. If it’s dinner-

Susie enjoys creating in many different art mediums as well as earth and
plants, as can be seen in her native plant gardens. She has published two
books, “An Enthusiasm of Waxwings” a book of prose and poetry and
“Echoes,” a hand-crafted, numbered, limited edition book of original
