Great house and space well located to explore the region. The house is very well stocked and really enjoyed the wine bar! We were six adults and a baby and had a great time and lots of space.
Great house! Very nice person:) Recommended!
We had a fantastic 2 nights at Rasmus' beautiful town house in the Rioja region. Located in a picturesque little town surrounded by Bodegas it's definitely a perfect location for wine lovers!! The village itself is very quiet but the local shop is very well stocked and there is a restaurant - although we cooked both nights! The house is well equipped for cooking and would be perfect for large groups as it has plenty of kitchen and washing facilities.
Rasmus was very helpful in accommodating us very last minute and contacted his housekeeper to arrange to meet us. Cruz was very nice but spoke even less English than we do Spanish so she'd brought her daughter along to translate!
This is a beautiful 5 star property with a fantastic wine cellar and lovely system whereby you can select what you want and mark it up to pay at the end of your trip - and the selection of local wines was great :)
The only negative of the whole trip was the inexplicably fluctuating price which appeared to be anything from £124 to £194 depending on when we checked (over a period of just a day or so). When you add to that the cleaning charges (not unreasonable for a group of 10 people over a week but for just 2 people over 2 nights £111 is quite steep) it can quickly become an expensive couple of nights. Rasmus kindly agreed a discount for us as just 2 people but the breakdown of the final price was still impossible to calculate with the fluctuating rate on airbnb. I would say that we had a lovely trip and were not too disappointed with the final price but I would be cautious to watch it in future as there is a big discrepancy between the top end and bottom end prices! We asked Rasmus about it and he seemed as confused as us so this is likely an airbnb anomaly - as we are still pretty new to the site we hadn't noticed it before but it's something we will watch out for with more expensive properties in future!
Overall though a lovely 2 nights in a beautiful part of the world - we hope to visit again and would thoroughly recommend it to others!
Casa genial!!! Todo perfecto, muy agradable!! Experiencia muy recomendable!!!
An impeccable house or chalet in a tiny, tiny town in Rioja. Well equipped and modern furniture make it a dream place for a long weekend or a summer vacation.
We were a few people together and the house is fantastic for gatherings of friends to enjoy food, wine and Spain!
Four couples spent a wonderful few days at the Black Grape in late September. From the outset, our experience with Rasmus and the property exceeded our expectations. Rasmus is always amazing responsive, usually replying within a few minutes of us posting a question. This made the reservation process absolutely painless. Ollauri is a wonderful little town in La Rioja, just far enough off the beaten track to make you feel that you have been somewhere different and special. The recently-renovated property is easy to find and the interaction with Cruz, the local housekeeper, works well. We spent our days exploring the small towns (Laguardia was our favourite) and wineries (some not so small) and enjoyed our evenings back at the Black Grape, taking advantage of the wonderful appliances and other amenities. The four bedrooms are all very comfortable and the house accommodates eight with ease. The wine cellar is, of course, a bonus and Rasmus' honour system for purchasing wine from the cellar is very convenient. The choice is excellent, as well. One highlight for us was the cooking lesson which Rasmus organized for us. He was able to arrange for Isabel to come to the house at short notice. She brought all the ingredients with her and cooked up a superb meal for us, with some assistance from our group. This is an example of how far Rasmus will go to make sure his guests have the best travelling experience possible. I have no hesitation in recommending Rasmus as a host, and the Black Grape as a destination, to anybody who is thinking of exploring the Rioja region.
Adoramos a experiencia na The Back Grape em Ollauri.
Our stay at The Black Grape was fantastic! Altogether, we were a party of 8 Americans (including 2 Spanish speakers), and we felt that the Black Grape could not be any better. It was clean, spacious, and very well appointed. The housekeeper was extraordinarily helpful, as was the mayor of the town, Luisa. The host, Rasmus, is very communicative and very understanding - we made mention of a slow drain and he instantly had the housekeeper come by to clear it. Perfect!
Please keep in mind that this is NOT a replacement for some full-service 5-star hotel in a bustling town; this is an adorable home in a very small town! Our style of vacation was to explore nearby wineries (by car) during the day and cook family-style meals at the Black Grape in the evening; this house was perfect for this type of trip. Do take advantage of the few wineries in town (whose wines rarely make it outside of Spain). There are a few few places to eat in town, but we didn't go there because we were too busy using the great kitchen and eating on the beautiful deck!
The wine cellar is a great bonus!
Wonderful house. 4 levels, large patio with grill. Large, bright bedrooms, great kitchens (2 of them), newly renovated, modern amenities, rapid WiFi, beautiful surroundings... who could want more? Oh, yes, that is your personal wine cellar.
Only a short drive to Bilbao and San Sebastian through the picturesque wine region of Spain. Impressive mountains, beach day-trips, hiking, food tours, wine tours, photography paradise.
Rasmus was a great host - very concerned about providing the best experience for our family. He arranged a cooking class with a noted regional chef which included wine pairings selected from the in-house cellar. He also provided information on the many wineries and restaurants located within a few kilometres of the house. Don't underestimate the quality of the food in this region... just look how many Michelin stars are within a hours drive!
You need a car (of course), and any sort of GPS or smartphone will get you to the door with ease. We rented a car in Bilbao and enjoyed the beautiful drive.
Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer... much longer.
Rasmus est une personne tres cool et sympathique ,cela a été un plaisir de le recevoir .
