VERY roomy suite. The bathroom was a little small, but very nice, not a problem at all. The kitchen was AMAZING ... granite counters, even a granite window ledge above the sink. Very nice detail.
It was really nice to have a suite with large bedroom and a separate living room where one could watch TV (LOTS of channels) while the other slept.
Great visit! Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our stay here--it was great having a kitchen to cook in when you're tired of eating out. Nice and quiet neighborhood. Diane accommodated us by letting us check in earlier and we were very appreciative. Thank you, Diane!
The only downside to our stay was that the space has a distinct musty odor to it. We tried to open the windows to air it out, but maybe this just comes with the territory of staying in a basement apartment.
Response from Diane:
Air purifier/dehumidifier has been installed and source eliminated.
Great place to stay! The bedroom is huge and the living room/kitchen is great too. We were 4 and Diane's place was large enough to accommodate us.
Next time I go to Seattle, I will definitely go back to Diane's place. Highly recommended!
The Maple Leaf guest house was fantastic for what we needed!! Very very quiet with a lovely backyard to utilize as well. Everything was perfectly organized and while we didn't meet Diane, everything was simple in terms of getting access and leaving at the end and any questions were easy to resolve by email or phone. Great privacy, and the internet WiFi was great as well (for those that said there were problems in the past).
Highly recommended! Thanks Dianne.
The privacy in the suite was appreciated and the silence was golden.
Access to the doorway required a few steps which were not a problem for us. The kitchen had all applicances and the shower was roomy with great water pressure. The bathroom itself was small but we are used to that. Daine was a caring hostess and helped us reduce the musty smell in the kitchen and sitting area by running the fan on the furnace. We had to borrow an air cleaner to help reduce the odor also, It bothered my wife becasue of her sinus conditions but might not be so objectionable to others.
The bedroom has a step at the doorway and it is a full step height. You need to be careful if you make night trips to the bathroom so as to not forget about the step. We put a note inside the bedroom door to remind us to step down. I must say that the bed was very comfortable and one of the best we've slept on in quite a while. Large bedroom with a countertop and mirror to "fix your face".
If not for the musty smell, we would have rated the stay as five star. My wife would choose not to go back there unless the odor were eliminated. Maybe a dehumidifier ?
Parking was in front of the house but it was always available. Not a heavily traveled street either so we had no issues with it being open. Nice night lighting down the steps also.
Very impressive. With the full kitchen and the living room with couch, the place can sleep four for an amazingly quiet/space with a cool back yard and neighborhood.
Awesome place. I have stayed at many apartments in NE Seattle. This and one other are the best all-around. Dianne was a gracious and very communicative host. The place was super huge, although I was by myself (the place could sleep three easy and accommodate more if you have kids. Super quiet neighborhood and host.
So quiet!! Lots of room. Will always stay there when working in Seattle. Close to freeways, shopping, restaurants, etc.
We wish we could give a rating of 4.5 Very spacious, very bright and well lit even though it is a basement space. Yard would have been wonderful in a warmer time of the year than early March. Bed extremely comfortable. We're going to try to find the same pillows when we get home. Lots of drawer ans closet space. We only had cold breakfast and tea, but the kitchen appliances would certainly have let us cook full meals just fine. Outside steps down to yard level very wide and shallow, but still might be a problem for people more mobility impaired than we. Motion detector lights worked fine as long as we didn't turn off the switch by the door by mistake. Glitches were:
bathroom functional but very small, [a problem for someone much taller or larger than we are], internet sometimes very slow, last occupant didn't wash the utensils as well as we would have liked.
Loved it. Very cozy. Exactly what I was looking for. Just looking at the photos on Airbnb right now makes me miss the great time I had there.
We were delighted to have Diane as our guest. She came to the Island for a concert to hear some of her Cuban friends who were playing on Lopez. We had a lovely chat over coffee the morning after the concert as she shared her deep pleasure for the music, the people and the place, She is a world traveler having stayed in airbnb accomodations in many countries. She is also an airbnb host in Seattle WA. Check out her Maple Leaf Guest House there. Diane is a good communicator and a responsible, positive houseguest. We would love to have her come again.
Diane and her daughter were great guests. I didn't actually meet Diane but met her daughter. They left the unit in great condition and seemed to have a good time.
