Kay's studio is very spacious and comfortable. The terrasse is especially nice. I loved to stay there and would definitely recommend it to anyone willing to stay on Kona side of the Big Island. Kay was a welcoming hostess.
Kay was very friendly. We only saw her for a minute, but she answered all the questions we had very quickly via text/email. This was good primarily as a place to sleep. We made tea on our private patio and made some steaks on the gas grill. It did take us a while to get the grill started. There was a microwave, but none of the dishes were microwave safe. We washed the dishes in the laundry room which smelled a little funky and I'm not sure why. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, snorkel gear, and (very thin) beach towels were all provided and made use of. Also, there its a good little running trail with a view about a block up the road which was fun to check out. It was great to be in a real neighborhood.
My husband, my son and myself all stayed in Kay's Ohana for 5 nights on the Big Island. Kay's place was clean, she provided all the linens and towels we could ever need. The lanai kitchen and living room was a great treat. We prepared breakfast and lunch everyday and enjoyed out food among the curious gecko visitors.
The location of the ohana is very close to the airport and the main town centre by car--close to groceries, supplies and Ali'i Drive (which is where the tourist scene is). The neighbourhood was quiet and safe.
Kay`s place is comfortable, clean, and well equipped (kitchen, snorkeling stuff and boogie board that we could borrow). We really liked the back patio, it was nice to spend the mornings and the evenings there. It is quite close (of course by car) to the nearest beaches and also to grocery or downtown.
We met Kay just for a moment, but she was nice and helpful and communication via Airbnb with her was very smooth.
The only negatives we felt was apartment orientation to the Hwy 11 (you can`t see it, but during the night it can be disturbing) and also additional accommodation tax that we did not expect (13,5%), not Kay`s fault.
I was looking for a peaceful, relaxing, private place to stay, and this was perfect. Much better than staying at a hotel, for a very reasonable price. I loved the lanai living room area. Kay was accommodating, and the place is clean and well-furnished.
Great location, Kay is very friendly and accommodating, I would definitely book here again!
Truly enjoyed staying with Kay. She is a perfect host, very helpful and always approachable for any kind of questions and queries. Also a very well equipped appartment in a perfect location to explore the Big Island's west coast. Looking forward to staying again!
This is a great place to stay. We did a lot of hiking, swimming and exploring and it was nice to come back to a place to sleep comfortably. Kay is also a very friendly and welcoming host. The outdoor kitchen made it nice so we could eat breakfast there instead of eating out.
Kay is a nice host and her place is nice too. You can see cool sunsets at the lanai. We also loved to occasionally see some geckos there.
Kay's private studio in Kona is awesome and a great way to stay in a prime spot on the Big Island without paying an arm and a leg. Comfortable and cozy accommodations, clean, and the back patio was a nice way to spend the mornings and the evenings.
Close access to lots of attractions and also grocery stores and the town. Would definitely stay again!
