as a bnb “frequent flier” (30+ stays; 30+ positive reviews; 2 years/6 countries) I write with my fellow renters and great places to stay in mind.
the flat is not internet enabled, but duly noted as such. hotspots near the house were MARGINALLY suitable—2 bars, intermittent connectivity, and the internet points and “cafe’s” near the marina were disgusting so i instead searched out eateries with wifi. if you do not have an internet key, an aircard, or a +39 phone number, you can forget public hotspots except infopoint.
“super clean and fussy” means different things to different people (surface, deep, spotless, marginal, tidy, and usually odor free). those with allergies, asthma, or nasal sensitivities to mildew/sewage smells from potential water damage and/or bathroom/toilet/shower functional condition may wish to inquire further. in terms of the “loo”, i imagine this would suffice for some guests but likely perhaps not for others.
If you are still reading, the plus is location location location—city center, the marina, port, train, sea and beach. the flat itself? its retro-seventies to the eighties décor. 2 flights (no lift) up winding marble stairwell, tight but not unmanageable. the bed in “my” room was huge! super comfortable, especially by italy standards. the linens smelled like a fresh summer day. the duvet was plush and the softest most cuddly. mostly functional kitchen, though i figured out the oven, couldn’t figure out the stove (surely a quick call could have taken care of that) but decided I would simply eat out (try loca bianca via napoli).
there were some changes to the room and price AFTER the booking but I chalked it up to a first time user. though federico stated in our email exchange “If you prefer I could to pick you up.” and “Don't worry about me, I'm a punctual person, trust me!!!”, he is not an “onsight ‘host’”. though I asked him directly beforehand, i only found out once i arrived that he lives in roma, not cagliari”. he indicated he sent his brother to the port to retrieve me but i never met him (DO NOT rely on tirrenia ferry schedules).. elusive and evasive, yet polite and kind, federico was pretty responsive (i had several questions given the exchanges, listing pic and details or lack there of) and mostly timely. he was patient and understanding, especially given my not yet booked plans. as a “host” he put himself (albeit distant) at my disposal via phone, though i did not yet have a mobile in which to call, but his family, zia G, greeted and welcomed me.. fyi: if you are dealing with his family on sight, you need to speak/understand italian here.
overall, what you see is what you. i’ve paid way less for much better. as for a recommendation i’m not inclined to judge. will let you decide for yourself :-)!. more specifically, would i stay again? with wifi and a full bathroom gutting and renovation including the adjacent water wall issue only might i consider.
