I am Marie and I am 27. I have been living in London for two years now and I work as an administrative assistant in a NGO.
Marie was kind enough to allow us to live in her apartment. However one thing that was not acceptable to us is when we had to collect our keys which was a few tube stops away from her apartment. Imagine us bringing our 15kg luggage into 4 different and crowded tube trains, with the risk of getting targeted by pickpockets. We wasted about 2 hours for the entire process from acquiring the keys to entering the apartment.
The room was relatively small with no windows. And underneath the sheets, the mattress was filthy with a brown stain which we suspected was dried up blood. In the cupboard, there were some what would be cockroach cases lying inside, which grossed us out to the extreme.
However the good things were that, we were allowed to roam around the house into the kitchen to get drinking water and to sit on the sofa whenever there was no one. There was WiFi, ample toliet papers and there was warm water in the toliet.
Both she and her room mate were completely intrusive and they respected our privacy, which was a good thing.
To be fair, you receive what you paid for. For that kind of price we paid, we can't possibly expect a first class service. However the bear minimum was to ensure that the guests' welfare and hygiene is well taken care of, in this case some of which was unattended to.
My 1st time using airbnb so I was a little nervous about it all but it went well. Welcome was friendly and quick. Flat has open plan lounge and kitchen and the bedroom while not exactly living up to the term charming was clean, tidy and functional with a small double bed. Bathroom has a shower over the bath, which was powerful and hot in the evening but rather cold in the morning, but I didn't want to wake my hosts to ask how to resolve this so I had an 'invigorating' cold shower in the morning. Location is convenient to Aldergate tube station. I would happily stay here again for a night, if you looking for a place to sleep for a night then I would recomend staying here.
Everything was as agreed. Quick communication and easy process, appreciate that. I didnt stay at this place personally but I booked it for someone else and the feedback was only positive both about the place and the host :)
Overall very good experience and for London its a good value as well. Perfect for very short/short stay 1-3 days.
L'accueil était amical. L'appartement est super bien situé, près du métro Aldgate East, à deux pas du Tower Bridge et du Spitalfields market. Si votre souhait est de visiter Londres pour un week-end, n'hésitez pas !
Small room with no window, but sufficiently comfortable and pleasant apartment very close to Tower Bridge.
Marie, his friend and her flatemate are very friendly.
I recommend the apartment of Marie.
Amazing stay once again.
Maria and her flatmates are very friendly and helfpul. Everything was organised. The room room is small, but really lovely.
I can recommend to book this room because it is so close to the Tower Bridge and because of the nice people.
I enjoyed the trip to London.
Super acceuil! Malgré des petits problèmes d'eau chaude le sejour fut très agréable.
I had a really great stay in London at Marie's place,. She is very friendly, flexible and helpful. It was a pleasure to meet her. She gave me a lot of tips what I could visit during my stay and so on..
The room is charming, like she said - it's small, but totally enough for the nights to sleep there. Everything is clean and very nice decorated. Thanks very much for this great accommodation opportunity :)
We did not have good nights sleep a mattress you could feel the springs on
and no window in the room made it very hot.
left before any one was up at 8.30
