I'm a frequent traveler, lover of good food, musician and college professor. I've lived and worked in New Orleans for over 20 years, and am more than happy to share my tips on great places to go, nice things to eat, and fun music to check out.

Brian was a wonderful host - he offered us an umbrella when we first arrived because it was raining a bit at the time and it was clear he wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. He has a great book of advice and information he provides which tells you everything you need to know about the City Park neighborhood and he was also available to answer any questions that came up along the way. He suggested two fantastic spots for breakfast and a terrific nearby coffee shop within walking distance. Brian is great!
This neighborhood in New Orleans was a great place to stay - we loved walking around and going to City Park to see the sculpture garden and the other sites. The location is on both the bus routes and the street car routes, so it was easy to get a day pass for $3 and get around the city that way. We also walked the 4 miles to the French Quarter a couple times and that was really pleasant.
I highly recommend staying at Brian's place when visiting New Orleans!
Brian's place was a cozy spot in New Orleans and made a nice addition to our trip. The apartment was very clean and tucked away in a safe neighborhood. It was very close to the transit and trolley stops. We appreciated the little extras such as local products and it was well stocked for a late arrival (with a beer and breakfast for the morning). The bed was comfortable and the towels and sheets were clean and soft. He was very helpful in informing us about the city and what we should know as first time visitors, as well as making himself available to any questions we might have had. Brian even invited us to a music performance of his, which was very thoughtful. I would stay in this location again. Thanks Brian!
We recently spent a long weekend in Nola and stayed at Brian’s efficiency apartment. Overall, we were extremely pleased with both the property and the location! What drew us to Brian’s apartment initially was that in his bio, he stated that he was a frequent traveler and knew what he liked to see when he stayed somewhere. This showed through and through, and made for quite an enjoyable visit.
The apartment itself is attached to Brian’s main property, and is perfectly suited for two people. It has a small kitchen which came pre-stocked with goodies such as beer, coffee, yogurt and hummus. The bedroom is sufficiently sized, with a small tv. Then the bathroom in the back is very clean and nice, and also decently sized.
I think our favorite thing though, was all of the small details that came with the rental, above and beyond what we have experienced at other places we have stayed. This included:
-The Book. Other reviewers have said how helpful it is, and we couldn’t agree (website hidden) you some good perspective on the area, rather than kind of flying blind. It was nicely organized, and well written.
-The bathroom towels were super soft. A real pleasant surprise. I even checked the tags on them so I could buy them myself.
-The heating/AC unit. It’s large, hotel quality, and also has a continuously running fan for good white noise, which we also do at home, so it was great. We didn’t hear a peep when we slept.
-The property is on a small cul de sac, so there’s no thru traffic, and it feels peaceful and isolated, but literally just around the corner are a bunch of food places, stores, etc., so you’re really not isolated at all.
-Private entrance with your own little outdoor area.
-Well functioning wifi.
-The bathroom had all of the essentials that a hotel would have, and this includes a hairdryer. There were even cotton pads and makeup remover. Nice!
We love the Mid-City/City Park area of Nola anyway, and Brian’s property was even better than our usual ‘actual’ B&B that we stay in around the corner. We’ll definitely be back! Thanks Brian!
Excellent experience with Brian. Brian was so accommodating. We had a few travel hang up on our end. No problem.
This is my second time staying here at Brian's house, and it won't be the last. Great house in a great neighborhood. Very quite and with the drapes closed, very dark. The house was very clean. Fridge was stocked with some good local beer, bowl of fruits on the kitchen table. And my personal favorite quality coffee with cream and sugar standing by!!
Brian is an ideal host! The place is gorgeous and brian generously stocked the fridge with all sorts of tasty goodies. I sort of want to keep this place a secret so that I can stay here whenever I come to town! Five stars!!!
We had a fantastic stay at Brians apartment. The apartment was very cozy and comfortable with all of the amenities that we needed. We met Brian shortly after we arrived, he went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our trip. There is a huge choice of great live music in New Orleans and Brian was fantastic at helping us find the best bands to go and see. The location of the apartment was very good, literally 2 minutes walk to the street car. Overall I would not hesitate to recommend staying at Brian's place.
Brian was a great host. I stayed in New Orleans for a week for the Voodoo Experience. The apartment is located close to City Park, which was ideal.
There's a very good grocery store and a nice coffee shop called the Bean Gallery within walking distance.
The streetcar is located at the end of the road and getting into the French Quarter is very easy.
Brian also provided a great guide to New Orleans with all the information you'll need.
Brian was extremely attentive to all our needs. Made sure we felt welcome and cared for. He has a nice book (in alphabetical order) that lists pretty much EVERYTHING you can need, and periodically sends a text to see if you need anything else. The place is warm and cozy. Exactly as advertised. Also the neighborhood felt very safe, and was convenient to the French Quarter. Highly recommend.
Brian was an excellent host. On my first day, he checked in with me to make sure everything was all right with the apartment, and if there was anything I needed. He was also great about providing suggestions on restaurants and things to do around NOLA. If live music is your thing, Brian knows all about the music scene in the city, and suggested a great bar called The Maple Leaf, where I saw a fantastic local band. The apartment is very clean and comfortable, Brian provided a plethora of snacks, and a notebook with useful information about your stay and touring the city, which I highly recommend reading when you arrive. In terms of location, the apartment is only a 5 min walk to City Park, and about a 10 min walk to a shopping center with a number of restaurants and grocery stores. No car was necessary, as the Canal Streetcar was about a 2 min walk from the apartment and takes you right into the French Quarter. This apartment and host are terrific, and only added to my amazing experience visiting NOLA for the first time.
Wow, a great experience the whole time there, from start to finish. Brian made me feel welcome and the apartment is clean and comfy. Love the neighborhood. Absolutely would return and can't wait to come back. Peace Love and Light, indeed.
