A retired corporate and nonprofit exec, I have a 20,000 volume rare book store, a sweet rescue dog and a vibrant garden and fish/turtle pond that keep me very busy. My housemate, Dennis is on hand when I'm away.

Jude wasn't around while I was there, but it's a very comfortable bed in a location with many options in walking distance. The ladder is quite precarious and it could be difficult if you have larger bags, but I found it adequate for a short stay.
I was very happy with every part of my experience staying at Jude's home. The location was a 10 minute walk from a conference I was attending, and close to lots if restaurants and attractions. The neighborhood was quiet, and the accommodations were very comfy. Jude was away when I visited, but David was a great host and I had no trouble finding everything I needed.
Jude was awesome and the house was full of character. I had the best time. They were so helpful with everything! I highly recommend this place for a unique trip to Austin!
We had a great stay! Jude was so welcoming and polite.
The loft is very cozy and comfortable, with sweet artistic touches.
This location is perfect for the downtown visitor. Located walking distance from downtown.
This is a great place, especially if you like being surrounded by books. It's close enough to downtown that you can easily walk but there are some good food options just a few blocks away as well. Jude is *super* accommodating and she and her roomie Dennis have a charming "Odd Couple" rapport. The included breakfast is a nice perk, and they provide lots of healthy options.
Jude's home in Austin is a beautiful, warm, welcoming space, and Jude is the perfect host. Thoughtful (thank you for the foot soak!!), generous, and welcoming. I would stay here every time I am in Austin!
came down for south by. I originally booked this is an affordable alternative to the hotels in downtown, but this turned out to be. a smart decision for many reasons: it was a welcome oasis from the SXSW crazy.
my bed was comfy, I welcomed the in-room toilet, tub and sink, and lots of open space to revel in.
Jude, david and Gracie (the dog) were wonderful hosts, without being too bed-and-breakfasty and free coffee and food that I wild have taken advantage of it I'd had my wits more about me. :)
for foodies who are willing to wait, franklin's bbq is only a few blocks down the street.
Jude has been an awesome host. I arrived very late at night, so everybody was sleeping already, but light led me to my cozy sleepingplace above the living room and there was a note with all the details.
You can easily walk downtown, the neighborhood is quiet and friendly.
Jude and Dennis were very welcoming. Had a lot of fun in Austin . Thanks a lot !
Jude and Dennis are gracious, welcoming, and truly wonderful people to be around. I instantly felt at home, which was only amplified by the loving and gentle nature of Gracie the dog. The conversations were engaging and all of Jude's recommendations were on point. The loft space is cozy, comfortable, and clean. I found the bed very comfortable and easy to sleep on. My stay in Austin was exciting, but Jude and Dennis made it truly memorable. Highly recommended.
An experienced AirBNB host himself, Gray was an extremely courteous and conscientious guest, and I enjoyed our conversations around the house. I'd be glad to host him again and highly recommend him to other hosts or guests!
Hi! Larry and Joanna Vaughn here. We are neighbors and friends of Gray Blanchard.
We've enjoyed knowing each other for almost 10 years, having met through a mutual friend.
Gray is a gracious host and his household is comfortable, warm and inviting, with charm and character indoors and out. There are 2 friendly and well-trained short-haired dogs.
It's located within walking distance of all UT facilities, including the Frank Erwin Center, Baseball and Football stadiums, and most Austin museums. it is also walking distance to the beautiful state Capitol, Austin's downtown area, Sixth Street, the Congress Avenue bridge (home to the famous colony of Mexican Freetail Bats) and the hike-and-bike trail around Lake Ladybird. A pleasant home-away-from home, indeed!
