Great experience and location! This was my second time staying.
Due to some travel complications (train cancellation), we arrived in the Xi'an airport at 00:35. We spoke with Morgan by messaging him and calling him directly beforehand to explain our situation and his mother graciously was willing to pick us up (and for a **very** fair price too). She spoke no English, but was very nice and showed us the apartment.
It looks just like the pictures (pretty much an IKEA showroom--no complaints at all). It had great internet (which is saying something, most places we've stayed in China have been pretty bad). It is literally right above the metro, which is by far the easiest way to get around. Pizza Hut and KFC are right across the street, if you're into that kind of thing. On the corner right next door there was some sort of insane food stall carnival that was even going on when we arrived past two in the morning--so there is literally something for everyone. In short, a great location.
But, again, the best thing about staying here is the ease of working with Morgan and his family. They are flexible and definitely work for you as their guest!
Great place. Very spacious and directly next to the subway exit near the downtown center.
It was everything Morgan said it would be. It was a great unit very tidy and clean. We were very happy. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Morgan as he was away in Beijing. But we were able to contact him by mobile and he was very helpful. His mother meet us when we arrived and was our taxi driver while in Xian. She only speaks very little english but we didn't find that a problem.
We would certainly stay at Morgan's again and would highly recommend it.
Correspondence good, location great, right on top of busy metro station and street corner on 19th floor. Apartment looked and felt a bit kind of makeshift. Power outlets in the kitchen did not work. No kitchen / cookingware available, except two coffee cups and a glass for water. Morgans mom was quick to respond at 10 PM right after our arrival by changing the fridge and water cooker to living room. Kitchen had a bad smell from sewer system. Cloths washer was in bedroom? Leaked a bit on to the floor. Bed great, other furniture bit flimsy. Blower in the living room might have electrical problem, because when moving switched of and on. Toilet / shower facility was OK.
Although I never met Morgan, we communicated a lot during our stay in Xi'an. He provided prompt responses to all of our inquiries. Most of the time we dealt directly with his mom, who was really nice.
The best things are: the apartment location cannot be better (close to restaurants, just outside subway exit, close to downtown and main attractions), the services (kitchen, refrigerator, internet, washer machine), cleanness and attention from the host. Morgan didn't have problem to hold our luggage before check in and after check out.
There were two minor things about our stay we didn't enjoy that much: one is to install/uninstall the washing machine (although as soon as we talked with Morgan, his mother came to install it), it was bit uncomfortable to have to plug it in the shower (and remove it after use). Of course the pros of having a washing machine, more as backpackers, and the immediate install surpass any problems we had.
The other was the apartment had smoke smell from cigarette. We didn't notice the first day, but it felt more and more everyday. I know other host commented that they requested a room change and Morgan didn't have an issue. We didn't ask Morgan, so we don't blame him, but if we could turn back time we would certainly have requested a room change.
The apartment is in a busy street. Traffic is a bit high even late in the evening, even though there is noise, it wasn't bad at all for us. We slept through the 3 nights without problem.
This was the best price/value and cleanest apartment we stayed at in China. We would recommend it and might rent it again in the future if we come back to Xi'an!
Great location as the building sits on the metro/subway with a supermarket and really inexpensive Chinese food court in the basement. There is also a food alley at night which has a great atmosphere. Morgan and his mom are great to deal with and they are quick to respond to any questions you may have. The kitchen is not really functional so not ideal for cooking outside boiling water. This is a good budget accommodation.
Morgan always replied timely, and his mom picked us up at the airport (paid: RMB 130-150 per trip; about an hour's drive).
The location of the apartment is very good. Underground is just downstairs and there is a very large might market. You can surely enjoy all the local food there, which is delicious and very cheap. Also you can find KFC, bakery and convenient stores nearby.
In terms of the apartment, it is generally good. It is cleaned every day, with towels provided. However, it may be a little noisy at the night because it faces a road with heavy traffic. Moreover, the water heater uses electricity, which means it can only provide hot water for around 15-20 min a time. After that, you have to wait another 30-60 min to reheat.
Morgan's mom is helpful and she sends back my clothes , which is left at the apartment.
This is a no frills apartment but really well located, spacious and with a nice bed. Morgan was available by phone to give tips which was useful.
