i'm very glad that you are coming in Rome.
Andrea was super nice. We was late because of our flight and he waited for us for an hour. The room was cleaned every day and the cleaning girl was also really nice. The location is great. He allow us to leave our baggage from the check-out to our train time in his residence.
Nevertheless I've reserved an entire home and he only had availability for a private room with bathroom. He propose to change for the second night.
We booked this loft apartment near the Collosseum.
I was annoyed that the night before we were to arrive at our reservation, Andrea sent me a message saying that there was 'an issue' with the apartment we booked and he had an alternative.
The alternative was nice enough, but we specifically booked the apartment in question due to it being elevated and with light and a good aspect. We had booked a loft apartment and instead were put in a ground floor flat with no natural light, a tiny window over the shower only, not the bright and sunny apartment which we had asked for.
I read another review on this person and someone else said that they had a similar experience.
It wasn't the fault of Gianluca, the gentleman whose apartment we stayed in, he was very helpful and understanding of our concerns but Andrea showed no care whatsoever and wasn't apologetic at all.
To make things worse, when we arrived, he demanded we pay an extra 12 Euros for City Tax, even though the listing had specified that the rate was all inclusive. We argued about this for a while and eventually, Andrea's colleague told Andrea that we didn't have to pay tax and Andrea was mistaken.
Basically, Andrea was trying to con us into paying more money and manipulating us because I stumble a little in Italian as it isn't my first language.
I don't believe Andrea saying that there was an issue with the first apartment, I believe he made the whole thing up and conned us into taking an apartment we never would have booked.
As I said, I had no problem whatsoever with Gianluca who was very helpful and whose flat was very nicely furnished, however I would never have booked that apartment as we were both looking for something with natural light and we don't cope well with semi underground environments and their associated smells of mould.
I found dealing with him quite difficult and I don't like leaving bad reviews, especially for my first time on Airbnb, however, I find it justified in this case.
The location of the appt was amazing! Supermarket around the corner, great restaurants near by and not far from the subway. The appartment was clean and serviced daily.
The apartment we stayed in wasn't the one in the pics though and the building next door was under renovation that started work at 7am which wasn't ideal!
