I'm from south-eastern Australia and adore the local beach, bush and climate. Married with three children and enjoying being an empty-nester. Love to travel and have International visitors stay in our two mud-brick cottages.

Alan was a great host and made our family feel welcome. The description of the house was wrong in the fact that there was actually more amenities than there was listed. So that was a nice surprise. The neighbourhood was pleasant and kept to themselves, the scenery was pretty and perfect for a brisk walk of a afternoon. Overall a nice place to stay .
My parents stayed here (we had a late change of plans due to unforeseen circumstances) & said it was very comfortable & clean, and the hosts were very friendly. Many thanks :)
The cottages were in great condition and the scenery stunning.
Comfortable and clean and enough space for all of us, well stocked with cards, music, books and TV if we should want it. The games room was a hit with all of us especially the table football.
Alan was a very friendly and warm host and apart from a hello at the beginning he left us to enjoy the space on our own.
Kitchens were well stocked with equipment for self catering and the outdoor eating area was fabulous for an evening bbq amongst the flowers.
Given the season it was expectedly hot, there are ceiling fans in each of the rooms and the ventilation in the cottages is pretty good so we were pretty comfortable temperature wise.
Bring plenty of mosquito spray if you are staying in summer, its close to the river and there are lots of bees and bugs visiting the beautiful garden surrounding the cottages.
Location was great, we got to Jervis Bay in about 45 minutes, Nowra in 20-30 minutes and Berry in about 30. Great beaches nearby as well.
Birdsong in the morning was beautiful and the my nephews enjoyed feeding the goat our food scraps.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing self catered break in the this area.
we really enjoyed staying at Back Forest Retreat.. we will certainly return
The listing was very accurate - a beautiful cottage in a lovely country atmosphere. This cottage is the perfect location for a weekend getaway. It's quiet, clean and very relaxing.
We felt very welcome by our host Alan, as well as the pet goat and sheep! We would love to stay there again in the future!
The cottage is only 10 minutes drive to Berry town centre, so it's very easy to grab some food supplies on your way there. And it's nice to drive in to the town centre for lunch or dinner.
The cottage itself is very well kept. Plenty of space to un-pack your bits and pieces and make yourself feel at home. Kitchen is great - all the essentials like a fridge, microwave, oven, stove, toaster, etc., as well as cutlery and crockery.
Thank you for a lovely weekend! I absolutely loved relaxing on the front porch watching the wind in the trees, without a care in the world!
We absolutely loved our stay at Back Forest Retreat. The host was very easy to deal with and the listing was accurate.
The cottage accommodation was very private and well equipped. The bed was so comfortable and the shower had great pressure.
Alan's property was beautiful and the area itself is stunning. We will definitely be back again.
Alan is very nice and the house he designed is a perfect place to stay. We had a great time there.
Alan was a fantadtic host, helped with some great suggestions. Staying at backforest retreat was such a calm, convenient and delightful experience. It had all the facilities accurate to description, and at great condition. This is one of my best experience at a holiday accomodation.
Alan is a delightful host who made my husband and I feel welcome from the moment we arrived. As well as being an interesting and engaging conversationalist, Alan made sure we had plenty of privacy – for most of our stay, we were hardly aware of anyone being closer than the nearest road.
The cottage itself was great, really comfortable and homelike. The view from out the front is gorgeous, all rolling green hills and fields. There were a great many birds around the cottage, and I loved meeting the resident goat, Waffles, and the two hand reared sheep, Cocoa and Bella.
We would stay here again, for sure – thank you Alan!
It was an absolute pleasure meeting and hosing Alan and his siblings, who were here for the Woodford Folk Festival. We would gladly have Alan and his family stay with us again anytime.
Alan was a nice and friendly guest. Everything went Ok with him. Thank you!
First time for me having People from Australia at my home. We had super nice conversations and exchanged recepies. Always a pleasure having Alan and his wife at your home. I recommend you to host them.
Good experience! Alan is a good chat, but also clean and quiet guest.
