This place was convenient for us on our short stay in NYC. Easy access to the subway to the tourist attractions and there are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants etc right out side the door.
We barely saw our host but she was available to answer our questions which was ideal. It's as the host describes and the photos look accurate.
The apartment is small and a bit worn out (could use some paint!) but we had clean sheets, plenty of clean towels and a hot shower to come back to after days out in NYC which is all we needed :)
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Reina is incredibly accommodating! Our flight was delayed about 4 hours, I notified her immediately that we would check in a few hours late and she said it was no problem. She is very kind!
Our room was very clean. We had plenty of blankets and pillows.
The bathroom was clean as well, lots and lots of clean towels.
We didn't want to spend too much money on going out to eat every day, Reina didn't mind us using the the refrigerator and kitchen.
Overall our stay with Reina was awesome!
Awesome location, easy to get around and plenty of stuff close by. Reina was extremely unintrusive, which might be what you're looking for. We practically only saw each other the first day in two weeks. The other host, a cute and skinny kitty, always been around for a little friendly chat.
On the down side, the apt is kinda run-down, cosmetically only - it could use a paint coat, but it didn't bother me that much. What was more of an annoyance was cleanliness; The most used surfaces were averagely clean (if you're not super O.C.D. about it), say floors, shower... But all other areas were loudly screaming for a wipe, including occasional miniature tumbleweed here and there.
Overall, it's been a pretty nice place to stay at. Would I repeat? Surely.
Reina was very warm and welcoming although I wish I could say the same for her apartment.
The pictures of the listing we're not indicative of its true nature. The walls of the bedroom were stained and a victim of old age. The bathroom was even worse - there was mold on the ceilings and the lighting was poor. You could even see a huge section of the paint which had peeled away.
The apartment was in a fairly good location with easy access to the subway but it's important to note that it is situated slightly above a small Italian restaurant. The smoke from its kitchen were constantly seeping into the apartment which made it very hard to breathe.
That's not the only thing wrong with the location - the neighborhood is safe but late at night, there were numerous hooligans outside of the bodega below who we're loud and raucous. I found it difficult to sleep because of this.
The bed was right beneath a large window so it had a strong draft coming in. Would have been ok if it was the middle of summer but I stayed here in the winter so it was chilly. There is a heater in the room though.
Reina has a cat which does shed a bit (some of my pants had dander on it) but the cat keeps to itself.
Overall, I was shocked that so many reviewers gave this listing such a high rating given the moldy bathroom, the smells and noise. This is one of those cases where nothing is as it seems.
Reina was a very nice host. Very easy and accomidation with check-in/out. The room is the perfect place to rest your head as you explore NYC every day and night. Awesome location with great food/bars all around, and very easy to get to the subway to get all around the city. Exactly what me and my girlfriend were looking for and there was a cool cat as a bonus.
The location is great - close to the F train, bars right down the street, & Chinatown a 10 min walk away. The host was great - accommodating, responsive, & respectful. The room had a heater, which she turned on before our arrival, and was perfect for a quick stay to relax between trips out to explore the city. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a great deal and a convenient location.
What a location. Its 5 mins walk to the 2 Av subway station, 10-12 mins walk to Soho and 5 mins walk to Chinatown. This is really ideal if you want to experience the city by day. Reina was very helpful in helping me and I wish I could have known her better due to my busy schedule. She's also very quick with response time, I almost had a panic attack in which I thought I couldn't make it to my booking but she was more than helpful and even advised me on options.
All in all, I had a great 14 days with this stay and I would recommend this place to others especially if you want to be part of the action on the (website hidden). Her cat was an awesome host as well!
We stayed at Reina's for five nights and it was a great first experience using Airbnb. Reina was a great host and her apartment had everything we needed and it was nice and clean. We did not see much of Reina since we only slept in the room but she seemed very nice :) I warmly recommend Reina and her spare room!
just perfect. exactly what i was looking for.
Walking distance to core east village, 1av restaurants, chinatown, little italy, soho/noho, st.marks. F-train 2av station is like 3min walk.
The room/bed is big enough for a single man. Comes w/ cable, closet, heater, table and chairs, stable wifi, just as described and as seen on pics. Floor/bathroom/kitchen are not as super clean as i expected, but didn't bother me much.
The host was kind enough to arrange early check-in.
Would definitely stay again. Thanks!
