It was a very cool place, very large ad spacious. The only drawback was the lack of consideration. The bed was filthy, with crumbs from the water damaged ceiling falling onto my face. The stove and oven did not work on the floor I was staying on, the hot water was pretty spotty, the fridge and freezer had rotting food in it, and he stayed the last night when we had requested a private stay (not a shared space). Our attempt to turn the heat on (it was freezing the first night) was futile. Overall, it's a really cool spot, and Julian is a nice guy and meant well, but it was a pretty big let down.
Our stay in Julian's house was quite catastrophic and I am sorry to say that the description does not match the reality at all!
First the apartment was very dirty, the toilets were smelling urine and you were afraid of walking barefoot. There were no towels so we had to go and buy them ourselves. The heating system was not functioning during 5 days out of 8, and we were freezing (-7ºC outside); but most of all the house is in bad shape, it is not maintained at all being an old house (plumbing problems, pieces of ceiling falling down, pieces of the -beautiful- wooden floor falling apart). It's a shame really, because it could be a wonderful place if well kept...
I would neither recommend the neighborhood: it is very far from Manhattan (30-40 min by train) and from all other places of interest (Williamsburg, Brooklyn Bridge, Dumbo, Park Slope/Prospect Park, ...), and it gets creepy at night.
Although Julian was responding when we had the heating problem, he was not very present the rest of the time and not much available.
Julian was a great host and very accommodating to make sure our trip was enjoyable. He was always willing to help out and responded to problems immediately. His place was spacious and in a nice area. We would definitely stay there again
Julians place was really nice, very spacious, tidy, and he was a great host. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.
Thanks again ! :)
We stayed three nights at Julian's quaint flat in Bushwick and were very pleased with the accommodation. Julian accommodated our very last minute booking and even offered to refund the cleaning fee since he hadn't time enough to completely prepare for our arrival. He had awesome tips for dinner and brunch in the area and was very accessible to answer questions via text. He kept us informed about the various work going on in the basement and was really a pleasure to meet. We would stay again.
Julian was great! We didn't get to meet while I was staying there, but the whole process was super easy. He was quick to answer and help any time I had a question through text. I got there super early in the morning, part of the reason why I did the airbnb, I knew a hotel would never let me check in so early.
The townhouse was right down the corner from several train lines. It made traveling into the city super easy. I felt safe the entire time and had no problems. I would definitely rent this place again!
Very accommodating and lots of space.
Got a little cold at night, but I know he was having the areas of the doors letting in cool air sealed. Not really a problem!
I had the best time ever!! Thank you so much. If your ever in Brooklyn this is the place to be, hands down. I will be back.
Julian has a nice and unique place in BedStuy when we had issues we was there to fix the problem and respond. Check his place out.
Nice little loft in a quiet neighborhood in bedstuy. Julian was very easy to contact, and took care of all of our questions promptly. Really close to public transportation, which made getting around Brooklyn an ease. Also some nice books laying around as well! Highly recommended!
Julian and Fola were great guests! Wanting to fill their visit to the Hudson Valley with all things "art" they took a Sunday morning painting workshop from me and proved to be stellar artists in their own right. Can't wait for a return visit!
Julian is a very nice and interesting guy. Unfortunately I met him for a too short time. I hope I can have a new opportunity to welcome him in my house. I recommend him to any other host.
