My name is Iris Arends, and I am 26 years old. I work as a researcher (PhD student) at the University Medical Center Groningen, in Groningen, the Netherlands. My research focusses on improving sustainable return-to-work for workers who have been on sick leave because of mental disorders. I really enjoy my work, and I hope I can contribute something to society with it.
In my leisure time, I play korfbal. It is a typical Dutch sport, but it is also played in many other countries. If you compare it to other sports, it is most related to basketball. I play in the top level of the Dutch competition, so I train 4 times a week and have a match every weekend. It takes a lot of my time, but it gives me a lot of energy and pleasure.
