I am a California Native. I love gardening, cooking, entertaining and travel. I spend my free time taking my dog Lucky on walks to the bluffs near my house and meeting friends for dinner and game night.

Another delightful stay! Staying in Margaret's home is everything one hopes for in an Airbnb accommodation which definitely is far superior to the local motels. Location is great, neighborhood is quiet and I very much enjoyed soaking in the new high quality hot tub each night before bed. The kitchen is a delight appointed with anything one might need for cooking or snacks. I don't know of a better accommodation in Carp...
Our stay with Margaret was simply wonderful, including everything we could want in an airbnb accommodation plus more. Here home has recently received a significant interior renovation with lovely millwork, appliances, fixtures and finishes. A truly first class accommodation that is even better than the photos. We did not have a lot of direct contact with Margaret as we were away much of the time, however, she made sure that we had everything we needed and it was easy to contact her. The neighborhood is rather "suburban" but it is really quiet and access and parking is great. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Carp if it is available!
Margaret and her home are both phenomenal! Being in Margaret's home is like being in your own home. She makes you feel very welcome. The bed is super comfortable, the bathroom is beautiful, you have access to a full gourmet kitchen, dining room, sunroom, family, and her gorgeous yard. Margaret has covered all the bases. She has Santa Barbara maps and information made available as well as notes throughout the house to explain how everything works. Not a single detail is overlooked. The thing that blew me away the most is that she has a refrigerator, freezer, and pantry completely stocked with food and their for your use. Unbelievable! Margaret and her home are true gems! Will definitely stay there again the next time we are in town! Thank you, Margaret!
As I type, I’m staring at over 20 doves gathered in the shade of a nearby jacaranda, poised towards the sea in Margaret's peaceful sanctuary. Sea breezes gently blow the various hanging chimes on Margaret’s patio. The only thing louder than the patio chimes are the hummingbirds’ wings as they dart about, chasing each other through the air, then lighting on a purple flower long enough (and close enough to me) to show off an orange band around a dime-sized neck. The reason the bird sanctuary is here: this place is special--peaceful, sacred. All the amenities are first rate, but truly, you can find that in many places. What you can’t often find, and what makes Margaret’s beach house so unique, is a place to truly connect with everything around you, and in so doing, connect with yourself. Simply put, it’s spectacular. Margaret goes out of her way to be accessible and giving while making sure you have plenty privacy and space to relax. She is generous in thought and spirit with too many details to mention. (Okay. I'll mention one. When I left, she even sent me home with goodies from her beautiful garden.) I felt so at home. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint, a short jaunt to the beach. The place is much better than the pictures would have you believe. I will definitely be returning!
Our host, Margaret, was very thoughtful in leaving numerous brochures about the area. Her home was immaculate and homey. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the quite atmosphere.
Margaret (and her house) were exactly the vacation home we were hoping for. The house was a garden oasis and we took advantage of its patios, sun chairs, yard, and jacuzzi. We were lucky enough to share the spacious yard with a very sedate and affectionate dog Lucky and two charming tortoises. Margaret herself was very welcoming and accommodating. She provided a beautiful kitchen (including gas range) stocked with quality ingredients, helping us save a lot of money on restauranting. We had fresh squeezed orange juice every morning and a hot tub soak every night. The bathroom was stocked with all the high quality essentials and much more. Margaret was our personal docent, giving great advice on where to go, what to do, and what to expect for traffic/transit if and when we asked. She was respectful of our space and eminently available at our request. The Carpinteria/Santa Barbara area has bluffs, beaches and trails nearby, and Margaret has two mountain bikes (with helmets) that made it easy to get around. The city had sea kayak and surfboard rentals at the beach. We couldn't have been happier.
We could not be happier with our stay with Margaret. We were initially concerned about the dynamics in sharing a house with a host, but were so pleasantly surprised by how nice the stay was. Her kitchen was stocked, we had a nice private bed and bath with attached porch, she was incredibly generous with her kitchen and space and made us feel instantly at home. she was helpful but not intrusive at all. We would definitely stay here again if we come to carpinteria again!
All around awesome stay!
Margaret was so lovely and welcoming! Her friendliness and warm personality made us feel so comfortable and right at home. She went above and beyond to make sure we were in a very relaxed environment. She even provided breakfast for us to make, fruit, and coffee. There's even a hot tub! Her house is very peaceful and in a nice quiet, neighborhood and we absolutely adored Lucky, her dog. We were only there for a short time, but definitely look forward to coming back to stay with her and do the activities she recommended for us to do.
Margaret's home was lovely and comfortable. The yard was amazing! We enjoyed our stay there very much. Quiet neighborhood very short distance to a great beach! 10 miles away from Santa Barbara. I just love Carpinteria. It is low key, small, quiet, cool, great beach, restaurants, orchid shopping!
I definitely recommend Margaret's home and would love to go back!
Margaret and Phillip were such a pleasure to stay with. It was my first time using Air BnB and they made it a wonderful time. Upon arriving, we were greeted with Guacamole and chips, which we took to the beach and watched the gorgeous sunset. Margaret gave us a bag with towels, napkins, and food! They host with a perfect balance, giving you privacy but remaining so friendly and helpful. Their doggie Lucky was so cute and friendly as well. Margaret took us to the back yard where she obviously spends most of her time gardening. The tortoises were so awesome! The spa was a great touch to the end of our night. In the morning, we woke up to an open kitchen to make eggs and fresh squeezed OJ! We then went on a perfect bike ride around the neighborhood through local nurseries. This place was cookie cut to our style!
If you are ever in the area, stay with Margaret and Phillip. You will have such a perfect time in Carpenteria. Thank you both
P.s. Phillip is a riot! made us laugh the whole time.

Margarets' visit was a great experience, she has been a wonderful and very considerate guest at our place, and I would like to give her my highest recommendations. Super easy to communicate with, Margaret enters the house, and you could say she brings sunshine with her - quite literally, she brought us a basket full of delicious oranges as a gift! It felt like you have a very good friend staying over, someone you have known for a long time already. Very insightful, easy going, yet also very organized and upon departure her room was clean and spotless! Margaret is a 5-star guest and we hope to have her return for another visit soon!
What a great lady! It felt like a sister had come to visit! We could talk about anything (and pretty much did!). Margaret is friendly, energetic, communicative, neat, and appreciative. She has a fun, engaging personality and is low maintenance. She is a naturally happy person and is guaranteed to brighten your home and your life.
I have been friends with Margaret since our kids were toddlers, we lived in the same condominium complex. We have had many fun times and fun vacations with each other and our families over the years. Our initial friendship started with our kids, but the kids are grown and we have still remained friends. We regularly get together for food, drinks and card games (Margaret is a great cook, so we let her bring most of the food). You will enjoy your stay at Margarets home, she is a warm and giving person and will make you feel right at home. Her home is beautiful and she has a colorful, fun and relaxing garden. Give Margarets place a try, I am sure you will enjoy your stay. Kathy
Staying with Margaret is a wonderful treat. Her home is very comfortable and she is a gracious hostess. I love cooking in her amazing kitchen and relaxing at the end of the day in the Jacuzzi!! We have been friends for 22 years and since she grew up in the area she can help you find places and things to do that you might not know existed.
Margaret and I have been friends for 24 years. She is an amazing hostess, the type of person who invites you to dinner and you get to look forward to a great time with good food and company. (And did I forget to mention the Jacuzzi?)
Since Margaret is a local she knows lots of information about the Santa Barbara area and can suggest activities to enhance your visit.
