Roccatederighi is a lovely hill town, not too big and not too small. Stephano's apartment is a delight, a thoughtful and artistic re-do of a medieval home. It is located in the highest quarter of the old town, full of atmospherics. There are a couple of quality, small food shops nearby, one even within the medieval area. The town also has a small COOP food store open in the afternoon. The nearby Garum Restaurant has wi-fi, something we needed, as we couldn't get the apartment wi-fi to work for our 4 days there. Stephano lives 2 hours away, so is reliant on friends in the village to help. Despite this handicap, and a day delay to get the pellet stove to heat the place, the apartment is really worth it.
Our stay was like a magical fairytale! The apartment is located in the historical center of Roccatederighi, a small mountain town where only ~40 people reside. We were not able to meet Stefano, but we were instead greeted by his partner Rosanna who kindly welcomed us with warm enthusiasm. The apartment is one of a kind: a perfect blend of old and new with a majestic view of the Tuscan countryside. We enjoyed the colorful and peaceful apartment, the quaint narrow medieval streets that wind through the hills of the town, the rock formations that overlook the countryside and distant ocean while church bells toll, and most of all, the warm embrace by the people of Roccatedirighi. The locals are so friendly and inviting, and they welcomed us to town as if we were family. We also liked the proximity to several restaurants and cafes, which were only a 5 minute walk. Additionally, it is only a short drive to neighboring hill towns, 1 hour from Siena, and 1 hour from the beautiful beach near Castiglione della Pescaia. A minor note is that the wifi did not work for us, but there were ethernet cables to enable wired connection. We hope to return very soon!
Amazing place for holiday. Near from nice house is the sea and also another famous historical places (Firenze, Siena, San Gimignano,..). Outstanding place for cyclists. Medieval towns, forests, hills, many roads with a good asphalt. Roccatederighi is the best. Stefano is a
nice, helpful man. Thank you forever.,,Petr
Fun apartment in a very small town. Good home base if you have a car in Tuscany. Resturants in town are great as others have mentioned and everyone was very friendly.
This house is located in a mountain village that has all the basic needs. There are two groceries, a baker and two butchers located in the village, so your daily needs are covered.
Although the travel distances from the various cities are a bit on the optimistic side / based on Italian driving, the house is located between all the major cities and the beach.
We had a lovely time here and you will enjoy your time here also.
We really enjoyed our stay in Roccatederighi. Stefano arranged for his son Davio to meet us - we were able to park at the Garum restaurant and walk the rest of the way to the apartment. It's a well-equipped apartment, with a sitting room, half bath, and kitchen on the ground floor and additional sitting room, bedroom, and full bath upstairs. The rooms are as pictured on the site. Plenty of towels and an extra set of sheet was left for us, and the wifi was a bit spotty but did work.
Roccatederighi is a charming little town. We had outstanding meals at Il Corso and La Conchiglia. There was a friendly little grocery with the basics between where we parked and the apartment. There's also a larger Coop grocery store near the entrance of town and several little salumerias to have a few meals at home.
Just a word of warning - it is a somewhat steep walk up to the apartment from parking, so it's probably not appropriate for anyone who has movement issues. It wasn't an issue for us, but something to keep in mind.
This little medieval village is as beautiful and friendly as the other reviews have stated and the house is lovely with everything to make the stay comfortable and homely. The village is really friendly. We did not meet Stefano, but all the communication was helpful and his son Dario kindly met us and showed us around the house and the village.Dario we hope to see you in Australia soon. Definetly a must see place and a perfect spot to base yourself to explore the richness of the Tuscany area.
Beautiful and quiet apartment in an old village. Superb views from the small square just fifty metres form the front door. Had a relaxing stay and used this as a base to explore the region. The house is well set up. There is a washing service available via a third party but not in the apartment.
Amazing place. Don't be put off by the climb to the house. It's worth it just for the sunsets on the massive rocky outcrops near the church! Try Da Nada for excellent food and a great view. We also loved Massa Marittima, only 20 minutes drive away. Big thanks to Stefano for making his place available, we would recommend it to anyone who is fit enough to get here!
The apartment was very nice and modern, relaxed and comfortable. Rocadeterighi welcomed us very warm and friendly, especially at Restaurante Garum and Il Corso, where eating was also bliss.
Stefano stayed with us during his participation in a medical conference. We met a charming nice man who Will be welcome back any time.
It was such a pleasure to host Stefano and Rosanna: I hope to have the opportunity to do so again. Thoughtful, clean and great conversationalists, they would be ideal guests anywhere!
