Anthony is an ideal host; easy going, helpful and respectful. Though I am no local, his apartment feels like the authentic East Village experience; quite spacious for two people but also cozy enough in winter. The East Village is a great spot to stay with many great bars and restaurants. The proximity to the L train also makes it easy to travel uptown, downtown, over to the West Village or even into Brooklyn. Having said this, it was not too much of a stretch to walk to many places in Manhattan.
The appartment is great, very well located (5 mins walking from L line) in a very pleasant neighbourhood, with tons of nice bars / restaurants / shops. East Village is definitely the area we prefered in NY and Anthony's appartment was a great way to discover it!
Anthony is kind and hospitable. He was responsive during the preparation and everything went perfect.
Anthony's place was great. Super cute, everything you need and in a great area with lots of places to dine and (email hidden). 5 minute walk to subway made everything easier.
Very cozy and spacious apartment in the east village. The neighborhood and the apartment has a nice, bohemian vibe to it with cool jazz bars and restaurants nearby.
The bedroom and the living room separate nicely, so you can close the bedroom door for a quiet night's rest. Anthony was very responsive and flexible with the check in/check out time - which was really helpful because I came in on a red-eye. :) Would gladly stay there again.
We are very well-travelled airbnb guests, mostly in NYC. Of all our experiences, this has yet to be our most colloquial experience....and we loved it! We had yet had, previously, the happenstance to thoroughly engage with other residents. The enormous, greenery-filled common courtyard was the impetus for that one night; otherwise, it didn't occur during our 3, full-day stay. There are 3 grills and seating for at least twelve (among two tables) with strung quaintly-lit lighting that availed a cookout to entertain my two sons from nyc and their dates (a party of 6). No one cared who we were or whether they had seen us before and were all quite friendly...like your own next-door neighbors. Anthony was expedient in his communications, and ck-in/out was most accomodating to our specific needs. Anthony's home: Immaculate, sufficient w/towels, sheets, pillows, kitchen needs, internet, cable tv, and furnishings sufficient as presentable to your guests, if you have them. It'a 2-story walk up (easy with my boat-load of luggage and groceries). The bed, very important to me, was awesome. The bathroom is located beyond the bedroom, which was fine for us; but if you're a slob in your travels in the bedroom and care about that, move on to another option. The bathroom was immaculate and spacious. Consider, though, this apt has windows in front and back as well as in the bathroom, so the breeze flows nicely. There's also air-conditioning if you prefer. The natural, hardwood floor throughout slants a bit just in the kitchen area, but THAT'S just it...you gotta love NYC living to appreciate that! I cooked, between the kitchen and two of the grills, a fabulous meal; and the only thing I brought with me in planning ahead was large serving platters. Everything else was there. Anthony's cooking essentials are very good; and I consider myself a good cook, so my standards are high in that regard. Only need I had was in the coffee area. He has a great pot that's perfect for one cup or cappucino, but not for my natural 3 in the morn; however, my husband quickly availed by boiling water in the tea kettle and had my 2nd and 3rd ready before I finished each last. There's also a shop to get coffee ten steps outside the apt, though. The neighborhood: East Village/Alphabet City... perfect, if you do your research well for restaurants and lively night scene...and totally quiet for sleeping. Thompkins Park is right there for additional green respite. Subway/cab availability great. We would definitely request Anthony's place again. Thank you, Anthony, for availing your place to us. We had a great stay! I just wish I had made enough of my sauce to leave for you, but my boys took the leftovers! We thank you dearly!
Thanks Elaine! I'd be more than happy to have you stay again! So glad you got to make use of the yard
Anthony has been a good friend for nearly thirty years (since we were VERY young). He is a person of great integrity, has a very interesting life and is a lot of fun to be around. I've stayed at his apartment and it's lovely - quirky, homely and very New York! Although you might not be lucky enough to meet Anthony if you stay there, I know you'll feel at home and will want to go back.
