I (email hidden) and along with my wife and parents we are a family of professionals who live together and like to meet new people and learn about different cultures!
My week long stay at Avimukt's place was wonderful. The apartment was very private and safe. The space was nicely decorated, very clean and the kitchen was well-equipped. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Great stay. Friendly family. Nice (website hidden) and fan work well. Hot water is electrically heated, which you could turn on in advance.
We were only here for a very short time - around 24hrs! but our stay was pleasant and although we never met Avi, his Mum and Dad made us feel very at home. They were extremely attentive and happy to help with any requests. And having Sanjay, the security guard on standby for any queries was an extra bonus. The room was pretty small but very comfortable - it does look very different from the pictures as I think there have been some changes since these were taken. Very safe area to stay in for Delhi.
Stayed there in December for about 2 weeks. I had a pleasant & comfortable stay.
Very close to the NZM railway station. Soon after I landed in Delhi I arrived at the house within 20 mins. I was greeted by Avimikt's dad, a total gentleman who checked in every often to make sure I was ok. I open the room after a long trip and there were a couple of bottles of drinking water and a roll of toilet paper : that was very thoughful!!
Also special thanks to Sanjay who acted as my concierge during the stay helping out with directions, running water & cleaning the room etc. The space heater worked out perfectly in the middle of Delhi winter !
+ The hosts are super-nice & responsive.
+ Nehru place station is about 10 mins walk.
+ The house is in a gated community so pretty safe & quiet neighborhood
+ All areas in Delhi are easily accessible from Nehru place station where trains keep coming every 3-5 mins. Gurgaon by metro is 1.5 hrs away.
+ There weren't a lot of food options nearby except for the Epicuria mall which doesn't open till 11:00AM. So for breakfast you are limited to Southy which is pretty good especially the filter coffee
+ The metro stops running around 11:00PM. So you need to take a cab if you are arriving late. The gates to the building complex close after midnight but one of the 3 entrances stay open and you can guide your cab guy to that.
+ The steps to the room are a bit steep but I worked out a technique of climbing sideways and that was not a big bother after that.
Nice place in South Delhi and check in good with Sanjay the caretaker The room is self contained but locks really difficult to use One quite loose Seperate stairway very steep and rickety The room was good value for money and the letter nice and courteous
Room: The room is a private, basic, clean, and safe place, with everything to meet the necessary needs of independent living: private entrance, big, bed, bathroom with western toilet and hot-water shower, and small kitchen. The kitchen has all the basic cooking devises, including a fridge, a stove, and a microwave. There is space for two people to live, and there is a spacious closet, and a small pull-up desk for office (website hidden): Friendly host and helpful house staff. I meet Avimukt, his wife, and mother once during my 6 days stay there. They all showed wonderful hospitality during our interactions. The gatekeeper escorted me by foot to the market in the evenings, and helped me find items that I looked for (bottled water, staple food, fruits, toilet paper etc). The hostess gave me useful tips on how to get around and where to find things in Delhi. She even drove me to the metro station to show me where it was, and wrote down good places to shop and eat. (Very useful!)
Neighborhood: safe and with all the convenient things you need: a market a 2 min walk away with great take-out and sit down dinner options, a metro station a 7 min walk away (Station Name: Nerhu Place), an organic food store (close by the market), and ATM machine etc.
To Note: The bed is very soft, and to enter you have to climb some steep stairs, but the walking up the stairs was good for my health :) The only small down sides were (i) no water filter (so you need to buy bottled water), (ii) no indication of waste segregation, (iv) is not as big and shiny room as it looks in the pictures, but still a very nice.
Over all: I highly recommend it! Avimukt: Thank you for hosting me and I look forward to come back!
I had a fantastic stay with Avi and Priyanka for 5 nights this May. They are wonderful hosts, and I really enjoyed chatting with them and listening to their hilarious banter. The room is cozy but has everything you need, including AC, a bathroom and kitchen attached, and a separate entrance. Household staff were very nice and helpful. The neighborhood is a safe one, with an organic grocery and parks for running, and is only a 5-10 minute walk away from the Nehru Place Metro stop. (The one thing that was slightly wonky was the WiFi, but if you expect everything to work perfectly all the time (email hidden), you are in for some surprises.) Highly recommended for a couple or a solo traveler!
We stayed at Avi's place this month and had a very comfortable 4 days. The house is located in a posh locality of South-Delhi. The place is very private- you can climb up 2 flights of stairs from two parts of the house- and won't bother anyone on your way up. There's an air-conditioner, fridge, microwave, stove, electric kettle and tonnes of storage space. Avi even put in a full length mirror on request! The room was super cute and quite clean though.
The pics make the place look bigger than it is though, so don't expect a lot of walking space around the floor bed. And people with back trouble might want to rethink the sleeping arrangement- because the bed doesn't have a back-ache friendly (email hidden)e kitchen has tea bags, salt, cups and plates, cutlery, and even some jasmine tea!! The main gate is locked at night and the locking system takes a while to figure out- so do check with the guard before heading out. In general the locks are a bit tricky so best to do a dry run ahead of time.
Overall experience was very nice. Avi is a pleasant guy and we had a very smooth booking experience. If you're looking for safety, comfort and privacy- this place is highly recommended!
I was in Delhi for 3 nights and stayed in this room. What more dose anyone wants ? Everything in this studio like apartment, fridge, microwave, fully set up kitchen with gas and cooker, tea & milk.
Bring your own food and heat it up if you do not like cooking or on a short trip. Easy access to market places and gettig a tran sportation - no problem even at 8AM. Will stay here again and again at this price.
Rooms very well kept, neat and clean, so is bathroom with shower, hotwater and enough place to take a proper full bath. No problem of running water.
All I would suggest Dars, to put up a proper bed, so that older people like me dose not have to take the pain of sitting and getting up painfully.
Mr. & Mrs. Dar are wonderful people, friendly and charming. Had tea with them and exchanged pleasent words with them.
Avi seems to be a busy person and unfortunetly could not meet him, but maybe next time.
Overall, the best place in town, best locality, peaceful and worth while for any person to stay here. Will stay again.
My stay with Avi and his family was quite perfect to say the least. The location is great and safe and Avi (email hidden) in the sense the room and the facilities were as was described. He was also quite flexible with regards to some of our requirements and while we had a great conversation over a glass of wine, he also let us be with as much privacy as needed.
The only hiccup if any was the poor reception of the wifi and one that I think he would need to look at even if I may have forgotten to mention it in person.
All in all, a grand stay and one that definitely fits the budget for the more modest traveler in a great locality and gracious and very open-minded fun hosts. Definitely hope to cross paths with him again either here in Bangalore or back in Delhi.!
