Alexandre's apartment in le Marais has everything; 2 comfy beds, plenty of closet space, a great shower, well- stocked kitchen, and a spacious living rm./dining space. there is no telephone, but high speed wifi is included, which is HUGE for planning your next adventure, and for keeping in touch with family.
Alex and his mom, Martine, are both trés charming and did a great job of communicating with us by text, email, and cell phone.
We thought the lack of a dryer might be an issue, but the washer leaves the clothes just barely damp, plus there are two drying racks; one is a heated towel rack in the bath.
The spiral stairs are lovely & quaint, but definitely not for you if you have any hip or knee issues.
The tall windows do a superb job of letting cool air in from the quiet courtyard so the apartment never felt stuffy for long even when it was warm.
The apartment was exactly what was described. Everything we needed was there. And more. Kitchen was as complete as you need, bedroom has more than enough closetspace and even the towels in the bathroom were provided, so I took mine home again clean.
Alexandre was very helpfull with our questions, allthough the information about parking appeared to be not correct. The prices he told us for parking in the parkinggarage at walking distance were incorrect, since these prices were for hotelguests and for that one needs a form that only hotels can fill in for their guests. Also parking in the weekend at Place Des Vosges (around the corner) is free, so that can save a lot of money. But I have to admit we only knew that from te payment-terminal at the Place Des Vosges. At the internet we couldn't find any correct information about this free parking.
One thing that could have been better: the apartment was not as clean as can be expected. For instance in the bathroom we found a lot of dark hairs in the shower and next to the shower. That is not a very nice thought, since one has to pay for cleaning and then you expect the apartment to be clean. Right?
Would I stay in Alexandres apartment again for a visit to Paris? Yes! Definately!! Especially because it is situated in Le Marais, which is I think the nicest part of Paris?
So till next time Alexandre!!
Thanks for having us in your apartment!!!
We had an amazing stay at Alex's flat. First, the place had everything we needed and the bathroom was big and clean. Hot water was not a problem and we slept soundly at night as it's a quiet area.
Second, the location was perfect! The St. Paul metro was very close so it was easy to get around Paris. Place des Vosges is a beautiful park that is right around the corner. There are three very good Cafés on the street and a boulangerie right across the flat.
There were also lots of shops within the neighborhood, both well known boutiques and unique shops with all sorts of great things for the home. Merci, a fantastic store that everyone should visit, is also very close by.
Alex was a great host, helpful and very compassionate. We met his mother on our last day and she was a very pleasant and elegant woman.
Thank you for letting us stay 20 days Alex! We had a great time and really felt like it was our home for that time.
A BRILLIANT FIRST VISIT TO PARIS!!
Alexandre's flat was absolutely exquisite. Beautifully maintained and in an excellent neighbourhood (3rd Arr.). Close walk to all the major sights; Notre Dame, Le Louvre, Tour Eiffel, L'arc de Triomphe, all within 20-45 min walks respectively.
Best of all, the rich, vibrant Marais surrounding area makes you feel instantly like an authentic Parisienne.
Alexandre's communication, courtesy and charm made him an outstanding Airbnb host, one I'd be glad to highly recommend. He even helped us carry our luggage upstairs and met us out front!
My wife and I returned to the Place de Vosges area again this year and spent 9 very nice days at Alexandre's apartment. It is very complete, clean, airy and quiet! It is very nicely decorated by his mother and quiet comfortable when you return from a very tiring day of being a tourist in Paris. (It is hard work, but someone has to do it!) Alexandre met us at the door and helped get our two large bags up the two flights of stairs and and back down on departure day. We had no problems and found no need to call upon him during our stay but he is at your service at any time. (I think Napolean must have climbed those stairs, the steps are well worn from many decades or even century's of climbers.)
The kitchen is small but very adequate for an occasional market dinner and the patisserie across the street had some of the best pastries in the city. The guys at Bistro Turenne on the corner are great fun, especially after they recognize your from prior years. Metro St Paul and the 69 and 96 buses are all you need to cover the city quickly in almost every direction. Many of the local streets become pedestrian streets on Saturday and Sunday as they become totally filled with locals and tourists out for an afternoon stroll, lunch and some shopping. Just a great part of Paris for the newcomer and veteran as well.
Be sure to eat at restaurant Le Petit Marche a few blocks away and our favorite, Pramil near Republique. Reservations are a must at both. For something totally different go to restaurant Pierre Sang in Belleville and sit a the counter at the far end where Pierre does all the cooking. What a find!!!! No reservations so get there early. It is a real surprise since there is no menu. He cooks what is best for the day and even changes the preparation mid service. We had more fun with him than at Taillevent for a whole let less money.
We really enjoyed Alexandre's apartment. The location was perfect and the place was well equipped. Alexandre was quick to respond to all our questions, and although we didn't meet him, the key exchange with the concierge was easy. The place was also clean and pretty quiet. The one critique I have is the beds were a little too firm for my taste. Other than that everything was great!
Nous avons été très bien reçu par le père d'Alexandre. L'appartement était parfait et hyper bien situé. Nous n'avons que du positif pour notre première expérience via AirBnb. Merci Alexandre.
You couldn't ask for a better location. In the Marais, around the corner from Place des Vosage, easy walk to 4 different metro stops and all the Marais and Paris have to offer. Amazing bathroom, good sized kitchen, living room and bedroom with ample closets. Alex's Dad met us to get us settled and Alex was very easy to deal with from our first contact. We had the windows open a lot due to the heat and while the courtyard was generally quiet, if the windows are open you do hear every one who enters the building but you also hear owls and doves and church bells.
The one thing that would make this place better would be better linens. I will be back and would love to stay at Alex's again but we agreed that we would bring our own sheets and towels. As a frequent traveler and airbnb host, I value good quality cotton sheets as I sleep better and I would have preferred better towels.
Thanks for hosting us Alex. My friend Amy and I had a great time.
The apartment was very spacious and in a fantastic location in the heart of the Marais! It has a very well equipped kitchen, gorgeous bathroom and the living area and bedroom looks over a lovely courtyard. Alexandre and his mother Martine were easy to contact and Martine was kind enough to meet us at the apartment when we arrived on Bastille day. Thank you for a lovely stay!
We had an excellent stay in this apartment!
This was the first time we had used airbnb and it worked wonderfully!
Communication was clear and quick before we arrived and during our stay. Alex was very generous with his time and advice. While we didn't meet him, Alex's father met me at the apartment and the process for checking in and out was very smooth.
The apartment is in an absolutely stunning area of Paris! There are many patisseries, green grocers and specialty stores nearby. We walked to most of the major sites as well quite easily.
