This apartment is in a great location, tucked away in a back courtyard off the Rue de Mouffetard, 15 mins walk from Notre Dame with a host of great food shops and cafes and restaurants within a minute or two of the apartment. That's the plus. The negative, is that the property is not in a great state of repair. In the bedroom, floorboards are coming up in the bedroom, which are a hazard, caused by water leaking in from the ensuite which it did on our first night. There's no proper ventilation in the ensuite (can't imagine how it ever gets dry in the winter!), the toilet flush broke repeatedly (although host claims this was a first, which we find hard to believe), there weren't any spoons to eat cereal, no bottle opening (in France, really??!) and it was kitted out to the bare minimum. In 38 degree heat there was one tiny, noisy fan with a repeated squeak which we tried to cool five of us. It was absolutely stiffling. The apartment has been carefully photographed - it is very small and essentially one room, with a mezzanine level, and a small side bedroom. For a couple it would be OK, but for a family of five, it was cramped, uncomfortable and hot. Hosts are not good communicators. We were very anxious about knowing we wld be greeted, as no response to 2 emails and texts in the days preceeding our stay which was unenecessarily worrying wondering if it was all going to work out OK. Yes it's Paris and everyone's making a buck out of every closet they have, and compared to larger, more comfortable places, it was relatively cheap, but it was ultra basic and not really kitted out to handle guests. There wasn't even an electric kettle, so trying to make a cup of tea involved heating water in saucepans. Simple things that should have been provided - not luxuries. Eating cereal with forks was another irritation, which shld have been easily thought through. The host's partner did come and fix the broken loo one day, but thank goodness it didn't happen on our last day when our 14 year old ended up with food poisoning, not from the apartment I hasten to add, but with no wash basin in the one and only loo, it was a nightmare half-carrying a teenager down very steep stairs to downstairs ensuite to wash his hands when he could hardly stand! Fine for a couple, just not really workable for any larger groups.
Let us begin by accentuating the positive: the neighborhood is lovely. Rue Mouffetard is bustling at all hours, and the fifth arrondisement in general is full of interesting attractions and an easy walk from the center of Paris. However, the apartment itself is not what you see in the pictures. The downstairs room is quite small -- much smaller than you would expect from the picture -- and the steps leading from it up to the loft level, and the apartment's only toilet, are extremely precarious. (One of us bumped his head repeatedly on the ceiling, and we worried about kids falling down the stairs at night.) As others have noted, the kitchen is not workable for proper cooking. There are no places to store clothes; we had to use surfaces. The entire apartment has only one proper window, in the downstairs bedroom on ground level; the others are skylights. When it rains, therefore, there is no air in the apartment at all because the skylights must be closed -- a serious challenge on warm days. During our visit, this was rendered worse by a distinct sewage smell in the apartment. When we reported the smell, the hosts replied that they were not responsible for odors. We strongly considered leaving the apartment in the middle of our stay, but couldn't find a suitable replacement on such short notice. In conclusion, if you're completely flexible about your living arrangements and merely wish to stay in a lovely neighborhood with a great location, then this is the apartment for you.
In a city with no shortage of very cool neighborhoods, this apartment is probably in the coolest. You walk out of a quiet courtyard and are surrounded by cheese shops, chocolate shops, fishmongers, patisseries, and all other kinds of tiny adorable stores. Élodie's husband was there to meet us right at the assigned time and give us the keys. The house worked well with the children because they had little toys to play with, and the small beds were not a problem with three children. On the other hand, the house is in disrepair. The master bedroom has a connecting bathroom and there has obviously been a lot of leakage from the bathroom such that the floorboards are coming up and make mountains, and it's dangerous to walk around. There is a mildewy smell in the home. There was no guide to the house as we had had in our previous air B&B location. The host was not particularly responsive to questions in advance by email. For that reason, we didn't even call to say that there were not enough pillows or towels for the five of us. Would choose another place when we return.

The apartment in Rue Mouffetard is really well located. The Metro station is a five-minutes'walk. It's very calm in a backyard, so you are far away from the busy street noises of Rue Mouffetard.
At the same time you have all the shops (bakery, cheese shop, butcher, wineries and cafes) just a few steps away, this is really fantastic…but what can you do with your wonderful shopping??? The kitchen equipment is so poor, we were very disappointed.
We had to buy a coffeemaker ourselves. There wasn't even a teapot in the apartment nor a salad bowl. We had expected that for the price we paid.
We only found two chairs even so the apartment is offered for four persons. This is very mean.
The upper bedroom had no real mattress - it was only a very thin foam rubber.
We had to transport the mattress from the sofa downstairs up the stairs which was a difficult expedition because of the dangerous staircase you can see in the photo.
In the whole apartment we didn't find any cupboard for storing clothes.
There is only one toilet upstairs which is difficult and dangerous to reach in the nighttime for the people sleeping downstairs as there is no handrail along the staircase. To sum up with: This apartment is recommended only for young people under 40 years without small children.
The welcome was nice and friendly. We were waited for even though our train was on a long delay.
The hair dryer we would have needed and we kindly asked for never arrived.
Nice apartment for young people who are not ready to prepare any meals or breakfast on their own.
OK, but certainly not " a dream".The apartment is in a great location and would be very comfortable for two people. For the five of us it was a bit cramped. Although we enjoyed our stay, the description of the apartment is more than a little exaggerated. The sofa bed is really too small for two so one of our teenagers slept on the floor. The upstairs room has a child's bed in it, not really very comfortable for an adult. ( I know, we should have read the ad more carefully, it does say a 90 bed) The dining table that "seats six" may well do, though it would be hard to know since there are only two chairs in the apartment. The "fully equipped kitchen" didn't even have a corkscrew and no wine glasses - c'mon, this is Paris! We were met on arrival at the appointed time which was very nice but when we sent emails and text messages to ask for more towels (only two were provided) we received no reply.
Eloide's apartment is beautiful, with lot of natural light and very well located. Eloide was a great host, easy to communicate and let us very confortable in her place. If you want to have a great Paris experience, I strongly recommend this apartment.
My favorite location in Paris, Rue Mouffetard. Apartment was very very quiet. Great bath/shower. Elodie was very nice and available when needed.

Perfect guest, highly recommended.
Elodie and her family were wonderful guest. They were very respectful of the apartment and left it in perfect condition. They also worked with me when I asked to have someone come by during their stay to fix a few things at the apartment. I really appreciated their kindest and easy going nature. They are welcome back anytime and I highly recommend them as guests to anyone, you'd be luck to have them. Thanks
