Stefano is a warm generous man. He went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. Picking us up from Valmontone station and taking us to his home. He returned the day we left and took us back to the station aswell. He generously supplied food and was helpful in every respect. He is proud of the town of Artena and we appreciated discovering it's atmosphere. If you want a place to just relax, read and walk the up and down lanes of an unspoilt hide away this is the place for you. If you like to sketch or paint, Artena will be a real discovery.
Had an amazing time at Stefano's place. He was a great host, meeting us outside the town and leading us to some parking. The town of Artena is truely amazing, where you awake to donkeys picking up the trash down the narrow streets each morning. Its nice to stay in a quiet, authentic Italian town outside of the big city which is also easy to acess Rome. The train to Rome takes about 35mins and only costs 3 Euro, which takes you right into the centre of Rome. Would recommend to stay here.
Even better than it looks in the pictures! Enchanting little village and apartment with big views over the country side. Calm and silent in the twinkling evenings and donkeys clip clopping along the cobbled streets during the days. We loved staying here. You can catch the train into Rome via a bus link and we really didn't mind the extra travel. It was so worth it for the quiet and charm of this very authentic 16th century fortified village. There was a 3 day (night) festival in the area during our stay and we were the only tourists in sight! Rome at this time of year is swarming with tourists so we felt really fortunate to be able to experience a very friendly Italian community and their fine cooking! Stefano is a very helpful and gracious host. He had even prepared a meal for us in anticipation of our arrival as well as leaving a generous supply of local wines to sample. We have no hesitations in recommending this listing.

Friendly, outgoing and very interesting to talk to! It was a pleasure to host Stefano and I would recommend him to any host. He was clean and tidy and asked about suitable places to visit and restaurants etc in the local area.
