Hi! My name is Marina. I am a 26 years old cinematographer who works as a freelance.
My partner and I arrived late to Marina's place and she was there waiting for us warm and welcoming. The place was clean, some nice music playing in the background and Marina quickly brought us in, offered us something to drink after hauling around all the luggage we had and showed us around.
I have allergies - so I am always a little leery when it comes to staying in other people's homes but Marina's was very clean and tidy, although, with a cat allergy, I was not able to sit on the sofa or chairs as the cats are on and off of them all the time - but aside from the that - the room itself was clean and a nicely put together space. It is as it is in the photos; a lot of natural light, clean and tidy.
It does quite get hot in the room in the morning/day as it's all windows, but if you aren't' planning on being in there much as we weren't, it's fine as there is also air conditioning and Marina was nice enough to offer us another fan if we needed as well, but we didn't.
THere is also a lovely, terrace that we had access too if we wanted. A great place to do some sunbathing, read a book, work or gather and chat with some wine outside! I woke up early on Sunday and had the luxury of making myself some tea and sitting out in the sun listening to the birds and various noises of Barcelona waking up. It was a really nice treat!
We unfortunately didn't get to spend much time with our host, we were quite busy looking at flats all weekend and she was also in and out. But the little we did talk, she was sweet. She invited us out with her one night as well which was very nice of her. Although we had to decline because we were exhausted, but it was really nice of her to offer. We only met one of her other flatmates while we were there and he too was very nice and invited us out with him and his friends as well - another kind gesture.
The only downfall is that is was a bit further out than we had wanted, although there were buses and metro quite close - which quickly remedies that. It was easier leaving the area then getting back home - no one knew where it was and several times we gave up and had to take a taxi back. Not ideal, but then you do have the perks of not being in a touristy area and out of the hustle and bustle of the centre.
Overall, we had a really pleasant time, and would recommend Marina and her place to anyone looking for a nice, safe, clean, friendly place to stay while in Barcelona!!
Marina is the best host! Very nice and easy going with a good taste in music ;)
The room is nice (although a bit hot when the sun is shining) and the terrace the greatest! Although there was the renovation going on, it wasn't bothering me.
The apartment is quite easy to reach from the city center. And the fact that it is just outside the metro stop is very helpful!
I loved the walk down the streets to Gracia and to Parc Guell.
I had such a great time in Barcelona!
Marina and her friend stayed with us for almost a week. They were amazing! I would be happy to host them again or recommend them to anyone.
It was such a pleasure hosting Marina! She's the ideal guest. Clean, quiet, friendly. She is always welcome back to our home.
Marina and Julian spent a night in Carpinteria. I was away for work, so i didn't have the opportunity to meet them. But they were very pleasant and easy to communicate with over email. I would welcome them again anytime.
Marina and husband stayed with us for just one night. We enjoyed meeting them and having a chance to chat. They were interesting, respectful and warm. Who could ask for more?
We enjoyed having Marina and Julian as guests in our home. They were both very friendly and respectful. We highly recommend them as guests, and they are welcome to stay with us again.
